I believe it has been reported on these threads in the past that Hockey East wants Quinnipiac and has dangled an invitation in the past, but Quinnipiac doesn't want to leave the ECAC.

Must easier path to the NCAA tournament in the ECAC than Hockey East.
 
Ceiling this year: best team in HE
floor: finish #8 in the conference
