There have been 31 sell outs at The Rent since it opened in 2003. Here they are:

2003: BC, Rutgers
2004: Duke, Army, Pitt, Virginia, Temple, Buffalo
2005: Buffalo, Liberty, Syracuse, Rutgers, USF, Louisville
2006: Wake Forest, Navy, West Virginia, Pitt
2007: Louisville, USF, Rutgers, Syracuse
2008: Virginia, Cincinnati, West Virginia
2009: Louisville, Syracuse
2010: Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Cincinnati
2011: None
2012: None
2013: Michigan

I am impressed by this list as it is a diverse group of schools. Clearly, the PP era has hurt attendance, but a coaching change can fix that.

Although the last 3 seasons have been depressing, the Michigan game energized me!

The funny thing is 2005 and 2006 were two down years... 5-6 and 4-8...

They play pretty fast and loose with the term 'sell out'.

Can't you look at the positive side of things? Chill.

What's the positive side of calling games that aren't sold out 'sold out'? It's a bit silly.

EVERYONE does this. You see 'sell-out' all the time at professional level and then magically in the post season there's an extra 1,000 seats.

Yes I understand how teams play with attendance numbers. They are just as silly.

So, you want to be Debbie Downer for a positive thread. I really don't understand the negativity. We need positive vibes.

Mocking a list that claims the 2004 Temple game was sold out isn't being negative. It's just pointing out a list of games that were actually sold out would actually be interesting.

The first game, Indiana 2003, didn't sell out? I thought it did.

OK, Debbie.

Think this was very true in the Hathaway era. . . .There is no way the blue seats were 'sold out' for a lot of those games on the list, including the first few years the place was open. Pretty sure visual evidence exists there was no way Orlovsky's last game at Rent vs. Buffalo in '04 was 'sold out'; the Pitt OT game in '06 is another one that is highly questionable.

Reported attendance was 38,109.

Oh wow. That is very surprising since my recollection of the crowd was that it was very loud and the stands were full. Then again, I was pretty drunk!
