Hiring a respected, dynamic and successful coach is something we can actually control. We can't control the legislature and expand the stadium at will, we can't control the conference, but we can reasonably hire a new face of the program.

When there is some excitement again, some of that other stuff won't seem so far out of reach.

There has to be something wrong with my computer. Someone on an anonymous internet message board admitted they were dead nuts wrong about something. Refreshing.

I was wrong about Pasqualoni last year. I was also really wrong for thinking Hathaway was smart enough to replace Edsall.

Unless there is a court enjoinment barring Petrino or Tressel from coaching, they'd be great for UConn. Breath a little like in the program. Recruit like they know what they're doing. Speaking of court enjoinments can we get one for PP.

Of course they would be great for UConn, but they would also laugh in UConn's face if we called with a job offer. People need some perspective on who we are as a program, UConn has zero chance with any of these big names being thrown out there.

Fire Paul. Fire him right after Saturday's game. Don't even let him say good bye to the players.

Perception ... it's a funny thing. Which perception mattered:
- That Louisville is a more successful athletic program or has better fan backing?
- Or that Louisville is more committed to sports as shown by Tom Jurich's aggressiveness and, in a perverse way, their lack of commitment to academics -- so all their money is invested in sports?
- That New Englanders don't care about football, as shown by the utter failure of Boston College to bring value to the ACC?
- That Connecticut loves basketball and so UConn's entry to the ACC would have strengthened the Tobacco Road bball contingent vs the Florida-Georgia-South Carolina football contingent ... and the ACC desperately needs FSU / Clemson / Ga Tech / Va Tech to stay on the ranch and so all the bargaining power is theirs right now?

Some of these perceptions are perceptions about UConn and can be altered by our actions ... but some are not.

Regardless, we have to do everything in our power to build up our program and its fan base.
