The coaching mistake was not calling a quick timeout after Boat's basket. Again this is hindsight. However that is why he has asst. coaches. With a timeout they could have set up their defense, define foul strategy. I believe we win if a to is called. KO had the guys playing really hard. Sure there were mistakes. Some players didn't play well but they did play hard. Hard loss but hopefully they learn and improve. Much more positives from the game then negatives.

It's pretty incredible that they played the last ten minutes of regulation with one timeout...and never used it.

I don't think they really had time to get a TO there, though.

No reason to foul at that time. Marquette was 0 for 16 from 3 at that point. Why give them an opportunity for the rebound on the 2nd foul shot?

Again love to be the Monday QB but the one thing I was thinking throughout the end of the game and in OT was ".....why not Deandre in for Omar? Niels can play the 3 and we have another potential rebounder/shot blocker/scorer in a game in which Omar was struggling just to get a shot off....." I am curious as to why Niels and DD could not co-exist in that game?

I assumed it was because DD had opened up his stitches and could not play without bleeding. He did later come in at the end of OT.

Yeah me too then I read today it was because he thought Niels was playing real well....I'm okay with that and agree NG was tough as nails but Omar was not playing well and had no impact and 1 rebound.......Niels and DD should have seen time together a little confused by that......?

Biggest thing out everything was not calling the timeout. I'd have to see the replay again(although I don't want to) to see how quickly Marq got the ball in bounds after Boat's shot but a TO should've been called to setup the defense. Either way end of game situations like that are something I'm sure will be addressed now in practice. From Boat's terrible defense to guys standing under the basket with a 3 point lead guys had no idea what they should've been doing in that situation.

No defender should have been inside the 3 point line. Give them two points. Problem is they didn't have the time to think about staying outside the 3 point line. They all got back into their normal defense.

Yeah it should almost be a fan effect around the arch..........who cares about a duece?? I'm sure they knew that but until you do it a few times natural reaction takes over.......shouldn't ever leave your feet either, imagine if Cadougain bumped a passing Boat as well as making it?

Ball handling, backcourt pressure. Heck, Wolf brought the ball over the line at one point, Niels another.

It's damned if you do, damned if you don't. You might not be able to get a timeout after the basket. If you call one before the basket, especially off a Marquette miss, they can set up the defense, you miss a shot, and they can win with a 2. The TO would allow you to set strategy.

Granted, Boatright took a contested fallaway (and was fouled) and he could have done that too after a timeout, but the coach is probably looking at the run of play, and Marquette's defense was pretty poor from the 10 minute mark to the end of the game.

DD is better with the ball than Omar and a threat to score.......Omar got one clean shot off..........if there really is anything to point to which the staff missed it's 17 minutes for DD and 28 minutes for OC........shouldn't have happened unless his chin was open and pi**ing out blood.......

I'm a big fan of DD, but Omar handled the ball well a few times, bringing it up from the backcourt with pressure. In fact, I may be blind (I watched last night's game on a grainy broadcast on my basic cable which comes for free, and for some reason, I get ESPNU on the last channel) but I thought it was one of our other guards bringing up the ball. He did such a good job. No way I have the same faith in DD.

I thought they actually had a line up of EW, DD, NG, SN and RB which was very effective. But then DD opened up his cut and sat out for most of the remainder of the game until NG fouled out.

Must have been very grainy because Omar is downright scary bringing the ball up right now.......I'm sure he will improve but for now we don't have a ton of options we can have confidence in besides our 2 guards.....
