Hold on to the ball, OK?

I know we are happy about this win, but that was one pathetic fumble. No reason for it. He wasn't hit from the blind side, he already had the first down, he saw the hit coming, wrap it up. He gave the other team hope. At the time I was advocating his getting the Shoemate treatment before my seatmates talked me down. Still, I say he gets a very short leash from here on out. Just horrible.

I'm with you on the fumble, but.......................

In the grand scheme of things it becomes a teaching moment. Much like Mayala's dropped ball off the face mask on the first possession, Vitale's punt return off the face mask and Vechery's wandering downfield.

Much to celebrate tonight. No need to dog pile.

We can discuss next week in N'Awlins.

Yup, everything goes down easier after a nice win. But that play made me wish the beer stands were still open.

In the grand schemes it wasn't any worse than Mayala's pass off the face mask or Vitale's punt catch off the face mask.

I'm all for looking at small things at winning time.

And why F don't you have an emergency flask for those moments?

I dont blame BV for this. The play left him with no one to block, and he wanted to put a hat on someone. This is routinely a non-call in CFB and the NFL. Almost a judgement call for the ref (3 or 4 yards). So many teams do this on nearly every pass play. That was a BS call. So was the "pick" OPI call earlier. BS

I thought it was a BS call too and his being an extra yard downfield had no impact on the play. But................it's a teachable moment that every player has to know where they are on the field relative to the play being called.

I thought he OPI pick was more legit. When I saw the replay it looked like the UConn player (Bloom?) plowed right in to the chest of the defender.

Mariner's penalty inside the 10 yard line can be added to the list if you're looking for things that went wrong.

But when you win they become teachable moments that make a team better.

I mentioned Marriner's penalty in another thread. I also said how he kept his head in the game and was the Husky who recovered Vitale's botched punt. His aggressiveness getting that ball prevented a major momentum swing. Marriner got rewarded with a couple of carries later on.

And when you loose, "the team is undisciplined, the coaching staff sucks, so and so isn't any good, it's Pasqualoni's fault."

Speaking of fumbles...I like the catch Mayala made and the way he held onto the ball after the targeting hit he took. He's growing up before our eyes. Way to go!

One bad play does not make a trend. TM played BB in HS and one dropped ball does not mean he has bad hands. Between TM and Bloom we have 2 big TE which could make a big difference in the next 3 games. Frank Verducci needs to call their numbers.

You probably missed it but Tommy had a key block that helped open the hole for Newsome on his 90 yard tad run.

No spitting match Waq but if that play had you wishing the beer stands were still open....You must have been in line and missed all the over throws and on target dropped balls earlier in the game.
Let's get a little more positive here, they won and he waited knowing we had the victory in hand to do this at a point when he could save you $10.00. :D That and you had a wash it down waiting at the post game tailgate!
