I'v selected a group of men's women's coaches. Take ten coaches from the pools and rank then #1 through #10. Yes, you can rank some MBB coaches ahead of some WBB coaches, and vice versa. Feel free to discuss your rationale.
The pools below include coaches who have done something or some things of great historical significance...or they've just won a whole, whole lot for a long, long time.
Men's Pool (listed alphabetically):
Jim Calhoun
Mike Krzyzewski
Rick Pitino
Adolph Rupp
Dean Smith
Jim Valvano
John Wooden
If you wonder why Jimmy V is included, I suggest you watch Survive and Advance on Netflix. NC State's run through the 1983 ACC and NCAA tourneys were even more improbable than the Jim Calhoun-led UConn run in 2011. Of course, if you disagree, you don't have to have everyone from the pool in your top 10 if you don't want to. There are more than 10 total coaches between genders, after all.
Women's Pool (also listed alphabetically):
Geno Auriemma
Leon Barmore
Kim Mulkey
Cathy Rush
Pat Summitt
Tara Vandeveer
Rank away! I will derive a composite ranking once there is a critical mass of votes.
