FSU President Eric Barron broached the subject during the board's quarterly meeting, his first public comments on the subject since a bullet-point memo he sent last month outlining the pro's and con's of a move from the ACC to the Big 12. Barron said Thursday that the university continues to investigate the situation and also assured the trustees that the ACC would not be left out of any four-team football playoff model.

"President Barron was very thoughtful and deliberate and asked us to be very thoughtful and deliberate about what's going on in respect to conferences," trustee Allan Bense told Warchant.com. "It was a good analysis, a lot of it is still a moving target but I think we need what President Barron said, just gather all of the facts and make sure that we are doing our due diligence and so on.

"I would assume all of us who are trustees are following this closely. I'm sure that President Barron is following it closely. So I think it is being given the proper attention. We'll see what happens."

10:08 a.m. — Spetman announces that FSU received more than it had expected from the ACC in conference distribution money. The Seminoles received $1.6 million more than the conference had originally told them. Were expecting about $14.1 million given in payouts on Dec. 1 (of last year) and June 1 (of this year). On June 1, the school received the additional money, totaling just short of $16 million for the year.
This means, that previously reported $500,000 budget shortfall the athletic department had from this past school year’s budget cycle, has now been cleared. FSU is in the black for that budget. Spetman said there also should not be a budget shortfall, as previously reported, for the next budgetary cycle. The athletics budget is in the black.

Never was a 'can't afford to leave' argument. Argument was that FSU needed to leave because their athletic program was suffering a deficit and they were tired of sitting on the corner in tattered uniforms holding a sign saying 'will change conferences for food.'

We'll be living in another Ice Age, fighting for survival. Our days as a super-power will be over while China is transformed into a paradise.

"As absolutely crazy as it sounds, our scientists say there's a 45 percent chance it could work and if it fails, there's a 25 percent chance it could send the Earth spiraling out of control and into deep space." The only way for the plot to be foiled, experts say, is for as many people on the other side of the world � North America tojump up and down simultaneously, counteracting the impact of the made-in-China hop.

When the Chinese tried the ploy before in the 1990s, Weekly World News readers rose to the occasion and launched a massive counter- jump that successfully thwarted the evil effort.

But with U.S.-Sino relations warming up, the back-stabbing communists think our nation's guard is down � and they're ready to give it another crack.

A lot of ACC apologists, perhaps you as well - I don't care enough to look, made the "how will the FSU afford the ACC exit fee when they are already in the red?" argument. That argument is now gone.

I don't think there ever was a 'will change conferences for food.' FSU reasonably indicated that getting paid less, to play against lesser competition, in a conference that will soon not have realistic access to a meaningful post season did not make sense for them. Take a look at those elements and let me know whether any of them has changed by virture of FSU closing the gap of it's annual deficit. If not, then FSU's status in the ACC really hasn't changed has it?

We'll see how things shake out, but it's not looking good for the ACC.

Must be kind of refreshing to get away from all the losing and child abuse allegations...
