This is a great question involving two sports which are hardly ever linked: UConn basketball and UConn hockey. No idea what the answer will be, but I love both of these guys and think they will both have successful pro careers.

ESPN has Wood ranked as the #4 N.American skater in the draft. Pretty good chance he goes top 10.

Wood is going 10-17. Hawkins going 15-22. Hard to say but if I had to bet it, I'd pick Wood

I was so confused reading this thread all day until some of you replied and cleared it up. I had thought the profanity censor autocorrected Dick (Gradey) to Wood so I was running with that

Big bodied sniper but toooooo sloooooow. Even his shadow is two steps ahead of him.
Still, wish him all good things.

Great poll, @slepers

The NHL loves skaters and the NBA loves shooters.

That being said, I'm going to parlay that sentiment with what @arch said: Wood is one of the worst skaters projected to be drafted in the first round and Hawkins is one of the best shooters in the first round.

While I love what Wood does and I think he has so many good tools, his skating puts him in danger of dropping to the point of me touting him to my Rangers buddies as a potential BPA fit when they draft at #23.

Regardless of this, I think both will be very good pros and wish them best of luck in their next endeavors!

Wood could use another year at UConn, age wise he would be a freshman next year.

He'll be at UConn next year regardless, UConn has a few guys on the roster who were already drafted by NHL teams

Good question it was as close as it could have been. No shade to Wood but I am happy it was Hawk. BTW who is the best shot in the Marvel world?
