I hadn't really thought about it, but this is a double header so to speak. Big showdown between Washington and Gonzaga in MBB first, then the women take the floor later.
 
My goodness. I was a few minutes late loading the stream. It's already 9-0 UH barely over 2 minutes into the game. WTH?!
 
This is an epic crapfest. UW has 1 FG 8 minutes into the first quarter. Trailing 13-4.

edit-15-6 after 1Q. UW is 2-17 from the floor. Hawaii should probably have a bigger lead. Dawgs have had several shots rim out, but mostly they have been WAY off.
 
Wow. UW still only 5-24 from the floor but is now only down 1 15-14. Hawaii beat Texas? I'm still not sure about that.
 
UW on an 8-0 run to cut the lead to 1.
Score is 15-14 in mid-2Q. Not exactly an offensive showcase.
 
Unreal. UW started to hit a few shots, then went frigid again. 8-39 in the first half. Hawaii not much better at 9-29. 27-22 UH at halftime. This is putrid.
 
UW going w/ 5 guards/wings to start 2nd half.
 
They got it within 2 briefly but now down 6 again. Just one bricked jump shot after another. Still around 20% shooting midway thru Q3. Maybe closing their eyes would help? Can't get worse.
 
40-29. I think that's pretty much insurmountable the way UW is playing.
 
Atwell swishes a 3 for Hawai'i to put them up 11. She was the one who really killed Texas.

UW is on a long scoreless stretch here. Something like 5 minutes.
 
43-33 thru 3Q. UW 12-60 from the field and 2-20 from 3. Just brutal. I'm foreseeing another season w/ about 2 wins in conference.
 
Atwell is enfuego. 2 3's to start Q4.

That's a lot better than zero!
 
Lead had ballooned to 49-33. Dawgs scored 7 straight, but then on a wild scramble where they had a steal, the kicked it right back to Hawaii for an uncontested layup. 51-40 6:45 left.
 
UW is making a little bit of a run but it's too little too late. 56-48 w/ 56 seconds left. It was a 15 point deficit.
 
Peterson has drilled a couple 3's...on dead balls. When the clock is actually running she can't hit anything.
 
Wow does Jody Wynn have an annoying voice or what. The quiet arena is letting me hear everything she says (or screams) and just wow.
 
Here's a telling stat--Hawaii has 22 TOs., but UW has only scored 11 points off of those. Pathetic.
 
Putback at the buzzer to get to 50 points, 62-50 final. 19-84 shooting 21.7%, 4-29 behind the arc.
 
No one shot well for Washington, but it was particularly nightmarish for Melgoza, who was 5-21 from the field, and 1-5 from the free throw line (!). It was a bizarre bad day for her.

She played well in Puerto Rico, but I didn't get to watch those games. She's been struggling in general this season. Peterson isn't playing as well as I thought she could either. Van Dyke is the biggest bright spot so far. Other players have had a moment or two but nothing remotely consistent.

Today Henson was the only one who approached a competent offensive game (14 points on 5-13).

It's hard to know for sure, but Iowa will probably end up a top 50 team. If Washington can put together more of those performances, they could win more games in the conference.
