So now the Blazers have two center busts in Oden and Thabeet. Sweet. Maybe they hire Oden as a coach and he coaches Thabeet. You know, considering Oden can't walk anymore.

While he'll never be a very good NBA player, I do hope that Hasheem finds a team that is willing to give him some playing time to grow as a player. To date, his NBA career really couldn't have gone any worse.

I guess Thabeet still has some value.

I think Thabeet's real value is his expiring contract, not anything he offers on the court. I'm assuming Portland made this trade for the salary cap benefit next year once Thabeet's contract is off the books. Though this is just an assumption. I'm not really an NBA fan.

Hasheem isn't even on the same planet as Kwame Brown, which says alot. Hasheem is the first player who bypassed the "bust" stage and went straight to "wtf ever happened to him" stage. I hope he's managed his money wisely.

He's more like the next Ha Seung-Jin who, ironically enough, also played for Portland

Hasheem should get down on his knees and thank Calhoun every night for having coached him in college and having created the illusion that he was an NBA player who deserved a guaranteed contract. Every dollar that Hasheem has earned in the NBA is a result of the wizardy of Mr. James A. Calhoun.

Did people actually think Hasheem was going to be a good player?

Hash must have some kind of horrendous work ethic because he is still a 7'4, 3rd year NBA player with good athleticism and this is his third team in three years. Either that, or GM's are stupid. Unfortunately, I think its the former.

He was the second overall pick... so yeah, I assume there were some people out there who thought he had some potential. Hindsight is 20/20

This cements Portland's status as most boneheaded franchise in the country - they ought to just quit the foreplay and hire Isaiah Thomas to be general manager.

It really makes no sense. They want to blow up their team so they trade a 9 million dollar expiring contract, who happens to be an effective player for a scrub 5 million dollar expiring contract and a scrub on the books for 5 mil. next year.

BTW, when I typed in Hash's name into google to confirm his contract details, the 2nd auto suggestion was "hasheem thabeet bust." Nice.

Hasheem has been called out for not having any work ethic and also, wears jeans that are too skinny.

i wasnt a big fan of hasheem in college and never thought he`d do much in the nba and couldnt believe he was the second pick in the draft. saying that i have to admit i didnt think he would be as big a bust as hes been. i figured he`d be a guy of the bench who would put up a few points, rbs and blocks a game but he cant even do that.

on another note, I hope Drummond performs well in the league not just because he's a good kid but the reputation of our big men is pretty bad right now. Hasheem goes without mention, but Josh & Hilton flamed out of the league pretty fast, and I'm not even sure if Emeka and CV actually still play in the NBA at this point.

couldn't agree more. he's one of the bigger busts out there. how many guys go 1 or 2 in the draft and end up in the D league after 1 season?

i was reading an article about the biggest draft busts - they listed Fizer, O'Bannon, Bradley, Hopsen, Swift, Olawakandi, Brown, Milicic, Washburn, and Bowie. some of them are notabale cuz they were taken ahead of other super stars (Bowie went ahead of Jordan for example), but i have to imagine Thabeet and Oden should be in the top 10 at this point.

Emeka averages a double double for his career. Not exactly an All-NBA guy but he is a good player.

He just doesn't have a feel for the game. Jim Calhoun did wonders for him that's for sure. I think Oden could help him. If you put the two of the together in one body you would have a heck of a player. Oden desire and knowledge with Thabeet body.
