Has the new TV contract been announced?

This is one of those stories about the business of UConn women's basketball that the beat reporters seem to miss out on, as opposed to covering the sport, which they do pretty well. For years I criticized them for missing out (or covering late) stories on the awarding of tickets, an apparent fan boycott of the BE torunament because of prices, etc. They've done more on that front since then, but unless I've missed it (which is entirely possible), I have not seen any beat writer say that he/she has asked UConn or CPTV or whomever, and has not gotten an answer, or that their source said to expect an answer in X number of weeks. Even knowing when to expect an answer is helpful, especially to those of us who rely on CPTV for the majority of our coverage.

Ditto.
I don't trust SNY to offer all our games. At least with CPTV we know they are relying on our pledges and so are more motivated to offer the games.

I think the answer is due sometime in the first two weeks of March.
This is a story that is really hard to cover for reporters - None of the bidders is going to say anything about the process for fear of hurting their chances, and one would hope that Uconn has control of those is the decision process so that there are no leaks.
Beyond initially reporting the contract was up for renewal and out for bid a year ago, and then reporting final bids were in a month ago, the only thing to report (unless there is a breach of security) will be the winning bidder and the terms agreed to.

I cannot imagine SNY will bother with those of us who watch Hoopstreams, which will mean the end for a lot of long-distance fans (except, obviously, for the ESPN and major network coverage). I have t believe the Hoopstreams coverage, small as its audience may be, is a feather in the cap for UConn. It may even, in a small way, be a recruiting tool, because families and friends who live a long way from CT can watch almost every game. Maybe I'm deluding myself that UConn cares about such things. In any case I sure would miss these games, which punctuate a winter which, even in balmy Arizona, can be long.
Totally, totally agree.. Being able to see the games from Oregon is great, it would be quite frustrating trying to find a stream elsewhere
