Has anyone ever been to Malta?

My gf and I are going in February for a few days.

Any can't miss places, off-the-beaten-path towns, or general advice about the island?

Enjoyed wandering around Valletta. Incredible architecture being a walled city/fortress surrounding the harbor. The buildings are still pockmarked from WWII.

Any of the walks around the active fishing villages w/ the multicolored houses/boats were cool.

Also enjoyed the touristy Blue Grotto boat tours off Wied iz-Zurrieq. The views of the water, caves/rock formations made it worthwhile.

They call it the Block Island of the Mediterranean.

Was there in 2004 while in the Navy. Memories are hazy at best. Was mildly expensive but nothing crazy.

Wear comfortable shoes as many streets and sidewalks were not smooth pavement or concrete.

Views from higher elevations can be spectacular.
