Even lesser schools like Clemson, Illinois, NC State et al are putting millions of dollars into renovating their on campus arenas... I was amazed to see the renovation of Assembly Hall in Champaign is costing $170 million :eek::eek:

Your "lesser school" Clemson has a 22,000-student enrollment, routinely fills an 82,000-seat football stadium and is currently ranked #11 nationally in the AP poll - ??? By any football definition (the only type of definition that matters for $$$ and P5 conference participation), UCONN is a "lesser school" - way lesser than the ones you mentioned.

None of which goes to UConn Athletics.
Physical infrastructure in all its forms is support by the State for its State schools - athletic, academic, administrative, alumni facilities - the board of trustees at Uconn determines how funds from the state are distributed with the exception of some portion of those state funds that are earmarked for specific projects and/or campuses.
The bond issues for Uconn infrastructure are not made by the University but by the state with the state providing the guarantee and determining how those obligations will be met - they may come out of standard University fund allocations from the state or by separate allocations.

Clemson is pouring over $60 million into Port-a-john Coliseum again and they are reducing its capacity again, also. They need to put their money into hiring a top-notch coach. Pig meet lipstick.

Filling the 82,000-seat football stadium doesn't hurt when it comes to raising $60 million to refurbish the BB arena

Those days are over. We will be much better this year. They still will only fill the place when they play Duke or Not Carolina.

Are you guys willing to help out with the 150+ million dollars it would cost to build a new on-campus arena ?
Yes, considering my donation alone, I think they can have a new facility in something less than a million years. :)

The UConn NBA guys must have made $200-300M over their careers. They could make the downpayment.

It's expenditures like that that has Illinois with $8 Billion in unpaid bills. They are paying their lottery winners with iou's.
Oh wait. Connecticut is right behind Illinois in unfounded debt. Maybe we can build a busway to Storrs to pay for a new arena. That will replace the cost to build roads in there to take care of the larger stadium.

Im not sure the state of Illinois is helping pay for the renovation.

I would think the money should come from our competitors such as Duke fans for the privilege of playing us.
