I know he made some mistakes and some would say were huge. Others say he lacks Div 1 elite talent, which is probably true.

But last night he got minutes, didn't pout, and played like everyone on the court were starters. We probably don't know how humiliating it must be for him to be relegated as a Senior to garbage minutes, but I was happy he did get double digits in points, and seeing him turn lemons into lemonade.

Say what you want but he is an NCAA Champion (earned by the way), and he's ours. He certainly doesn't need my forgiveness but he certainly needs my cheers. Go Tyler!

If we get the best 5 minutes he can give us this year it means we are a good team. If we get the best 15 minutes- it means we are not as good as we hoped.

If he can come in and give 100% his minutes might go up a bit against teams with a lot of lbs at the 5 spot. I am happy to see him get minutes - it usually means we are WINNING!!!

It's en vogue to heckle this kid. In my opinion anyone who does should be stripped of their fan card and tickets. Go root for Rutgers.

If you are referring to my post- it is simply a statement of fact that we are a better team when he plays less minutes. If he is our starting center we are not that good a team-period.

What is a fan card?

The guy PRODUCED. In 7 min, 10 pts, including a 3, 5/5 at the free, and 2 boards. Very active on D. I espec like the 5/5.

Detroit totally stopped playing defense somewhere toward the latter half of the first half.

I thought Tyler played well in the first game in what his role should have been all along (plus that winning 3) with 9 min, only 1 rebound but thought he had good energy (2 steals), and played physical. Also glad to see the effort and production in garbage time vs. Detroit.

Anyone know why he only got 2 min vs. Yale? I'm guessing it's related to rebounding (only 2 boards so far on the year).

Part of me thinks he's relieved that he isn't the focus inside any longer and can just contribute as best he can.

He was never recruited to be a big minute starter. He was supposed to play behind guys like Bynum, Oriakhi, and Drummond or as an occasional stretch 4, weakside rebounder. Probably wants (deserves?) More minutes than he's getting, but KO will play him more if he keeps it up vs better competition.

TO played quite well last night and hasn't let his lack of PT affect his mental outlook.
I do think he could play a similar role to his freshmen year, particularly against teams with a big, physical front line. In that case, TO would start and play until the first TV timeout...about 4 minutes. He is our best bug at setting screens and passing and his focus would be in setting screens&making passes to get DD, RB and OC going. If PN and AB play well after that, he may not get into the game again but getting those 3 teammates off to a good start on offense would be huge.

His mistakes were minor and we probably have a team full of players that have made similar mistakes and didn't get caught. We may want him to be better but he is what he is: a solid Div. 1 player with size and average skills who can contribute on any given night. He will see more than garbage minutes.
