Quite frankly, little did we casual fans know a fragile 11:11 reference years back would

* kickoff a new wannabe Valentine’s Day-equivalent for singles in mainland China.
* mainland retailers would milk it to create a much larger Black Friday, and
* the mistaken kickoff, nouveau holiday, and 11:11 sales would flow over the mainland borders and even influence US marketing.

Powerful, but we were informed years ago!
