Hana Muhl (Nika's sister) commits to Illinois

I seem to recall that at one point there was an article posted where Hana said she did not want to to to the same school as Nika. This would confirm it.

I hope she can get used to losing. That program has been in a shambles for 20 years.

So this actually makes no sense but I'm going to post it as 'Geno's thinking' nonetheless:

"I don't Nika Muhl because Agata Makurat."

(I apologize to each and every one of you.)

I'd have loved to have seen her at UConn, but I hope she's happy at Urbanna.

Hopefuly she knows this..she picked Illinois for a reason. Maybe she prefers deep dish pizza vs. thin crust CT. pizza.
Now that's some BS if I've ever heard it. Does she also prefer cold lobster smothered in mayo over warm lobster and butter?

Unusual choice on all levels - historically poor basketball program, not necessarily a school that recruits in Europe, and poor weather. Wish her well.

I have an uncle who was an agricultural engineering professor researching soil erosion at UI. He enjoyed living, teaching and doing research there very much.

Having been born and raised in Illinois while living over 20 years in CT, I'll take Illinois weather any day of the week. Central Illinois gets NOTHING that even vaguely compares with a Nor'easter.

Been back in Central Illinois and haven't had a snow of more than 3" or so in 6 years.

I have always been a fan of the entire Muhl family.
Let's plan for a BIG TEN vs Big East clash in the next three years.
Best wishes and good luck to Hana!

What?! I lived in Illinois for 17 years and the humidity is unbearable in the summer months. Ditto for Indiana and Wisconsin, where I also lived for extended periods. I am thankful for every day I live in the Northeast, although for me it is Central NY.

Jordy,
Umm, talking different seasons and college basketball isn't played in the summer. Yes, there's practices, etc but I find the impact of New England winter weather to be far worse than the summer humidity in Illinois (which I don't even notice).

" TURN , TURN, TURN.... to every reason there is a season!"

Welcome to Big Ten country, Hana!! Illinois is a nice school and the WBB program is getting better.

I can understand that she wants to be at a different Univ. than Nika, but it is a curious choice in a way. I mean, Illinois hasn't made a ripple in women's basketball. Maybe this is how they begin. South Florida has built some strong teams with players from abroad, and Indiana seems a growing force in the big ten. Oh well. Ours is not to reason why...but I am interested. Anyone know more?

Their coach was one of the best ever DIII coaches. I believe if she can start getting better recruits the program will get much better.
I'm on record as being a huge fan of coach Fahey, but I believe this will be a put up or shut up season for her. I can't see the AD, as much as she was "his hire" from Washington U, being able to justify keeping her around after a 5th season of no significant improvement in results.

Washington University has about 15000 students, whereas a typical D3 school has about 2000. The University Division D3 schools have a huge recruiting advantage over everyone else.

That would make sense if D3 schools offered scholarships.

Yeah, I've known loads of people who went there. I can't think of anyone who didn't love it there, although my sample is mostly from the hard sciences, in which UIUC is really strong. Hanna can get a great education there if she wants to.
