Han Solo movie

Well the trailer finally dropped today after months of speculation, reshoots and a supposed change in direction for the movie ending with Ron Howard taking the reigns. I grew up idolizing Han Solo - reluctant hero, notorious and dangerous, a smooth talker who gets the girl that's out of his league. He was just cool. I was really excited to hear about the Solo movie when it was announced, but in the back of my mind I was thinking "don't F this up, disney". There's really not much to gleam from a trailer, but if nothing else the early visuals look good and the soundtrack has a bladerunner-esque feel to it. Love having Harrelson in the cast, but he may have to more than pull his weight. If they can stay true to the characters and deliver a halfway decent storyline, we'll have a winner. Fingers crossed.

I don't like the actor playing Solo. Playing a younger version of an iconic character is tough, and that kid doesn't pull it off based on the trailer. Harrison Ford played it as slacker survivor, and that kid seems to be playing it more smarmy know-it-all.

I give Donald Glover about 50% chance of pulling off Lando. Lando was Billy Dee Williams, and while Billy Dee was not a great actor, it is hard to pull off that level of cool.

That actor was great in Hail Caesar. Ron Howard is an overrated Director. The movie looks really bad.

I'm worried that Howard is out of his realm. The Dan Brown movies were crap. I'm not expecting A Beautiful Mind, but give us some substance. I don't know the Solo actor but first take he doesn't nail it. Glover looks the part.

That's the key to this. River Phoenix kind of pulled it off as a young Indiana Jones, if not quite. This kid? I'll reserve judgement, but he doesn't shout "ruggedly handsome rogue" to me.

The casting of Kylo Ren was an epic fail for the same reason. There is no way that Adam Driver could be the spawn of Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher. He's about a 3 on the usual 1-10 looks scale. I don't know if this guy can act, but he looks the part. Kellan Lutz - IMDb Nick Hoult would work too.
Why do they always get this wrong?

As someone that watches the movies, but doesn't analyze the minutia or read the books, I don't see the point of this movie. I thought Rogue One was clever. They took a throwaway line from Star Wars about good people dying to get the plans and built a story. I even like that they ended it the way they should have ([edited out spoiler just in case]). With Han Solo I really picture his life starting in Star Wars. He should be a scoundrel in this movie, and while maybe he'll be the "scoundrel with the heart of gold" he should not be particularly likable. In the brief clip, it looks like they are making him the Jim Kirk of JJ Abrams' Star Wars... or maybe even a male Rey (and then they'll claim that's why he took to her in Force Awakens).

I can't see going to the theater for this one, but I'll definitely watch it with the family just to see more Chewie.

Cash grab. Nothing more. Not a single part of this movie will be compelling besides I guess explody scenes. Character development? Lol he turns out to be a scoundrel and doesn’t seem to be that like able to start

I thought the trailer actually looked better than what I was expecting. The tone doesn't seem to be as comedic as I would have thought, but trailers can be misleading. The visuals look great - the same Director of Photography as Arrival. Can't help but think it would be easier to accept if the main character wasn't Han Solo.

I don't really care either way that they are doing this movie. If Lawrence Kasdan really thought he had a great Han Solo story to tell then so be it. I don't need the actor to do a dead on Harrison Ford impression, as long as the character of Han Solo is right. If its a clunker I will get over it, but hopefully it exceeds my expectations.

I liked The Last Jedi but had no interest in this until I saw the trailer. It looks kinda fun.

The bit about Solo joining the Empire seems out of character, but I guess they can show his evolution to the character in ANH.

I don't think they understand what people want. I feel like they are more likely to give us a Rose and Finn standalone film before an actual Vader movie.
