OT: Hall of Pretty Good

I agree with you. I know Dame will be a First Ballot HOFer but I can't overlook the fact that despite all of his perceived prowess, he has NEVER made the NBA Finals once. In fact, he's never made it to a Conference Finals. To be a truly great player you have to have a little bit of playoff success. I know everyone wants to call him to be an All Time great but he has NEVER done anything to in the playoffs to prove that he is one. His teams are 25-43 in 14 playoff series. He is a hell of a player, he has done a lot in the NBA in terms of individual accomplishments but his record speaks for itself. If he is a truly an all time great player then he should have done something in the playoffs in his career. I mean, he's been in the league for 13 years.
But he’s scored 22,000 points so therefore first ballot HoF

If you think about it, he has been to the NBA but Jalen Adams or Bouknight were to us. Skilled guard, scores a bunch of points, league honors, no real success with winning. And those guys are the exact example for a UConn version of “good but not hall of fame”

That's one of several reasons he gets in as soon as he's eligible. I already answered this for you.

He has 2,500+ points more than Tom Chambers who is the player with the most career points who is not in the Hall of Fame. Nobody with 9 all-star appearances has ever been left out of the Hall of Fame. No player with more than 5 all-nba selections has been left out of the Hall of Fame, Lillard has 7 all-NBA selections.

He's immediately inducted into the Hall of Fame when he's eligible.

Oh I know he will get in without question. As he should. He could retire tomorrow and he is a First Ballot HOFer but I still think he is among the most overrated players in the history of the sport. Just as I think James Harden and Russell Westbrook are insanely overrated.

Tom Chambers is criminally underrated. I know injuries has likely kept him out of the Hall but when Chambers was at his peak, he wasn't just very good, he was GREAT.

Think about the West he was in. Sometimes it just happens to line up that you are at your peak when one of the best team of All-Time also is at their peak. Dame is incredibly clutch, his team just didn’t have the talent to beat those Warriors/Rockets/Nuggets teams.
