You got to have shooters, passers and guys who love to rebound. Those are some of the things we were trying to change with Blaze. We got a PG who can shoot, a west coast shooter, a Legit Big who can rebound & pass and a NYC guy who can explode off the dribble. Not bad in such a short time but now we must go up against two headwinds - NCAA and the fire KO talk.

I love the casual fan but I don’t need to justify myself to them.

I joke about how I go back to the first Calhoun era Guyer Gym Spring practice. I have no idea if it was legal or not - but they had like 8 dudes so Chief and another guy were asked to play. It started out fairly casual with no meaningful defense and quite frankly not a lot of talent with a couple of exceptions. Chief got some open shots and a dunk and banged them in. Then a 6-5 guy walked into the gym watched in silence and then said a few words I can’t repeat here. Casual turned into Intense. Those open shots became hard to find. That was my introduction to Jim Calhoun and that intensity resided in Storrs throughout his tenure.
