I admire your enthusiasm. Hope he proves it true... I'm just going by the experts here. Everything I've read or heard is Samuel is a combo guard. Solid handles, good set up man.... good scorer, suspect outside shooter. He's not one or the other. If he turns into an El-Amin or Ricky Moore, that would be great. I haven't heard anyone saying he's that good. At the end of the day, he's averaging 15 ppg, 6 apg, 5 rpg. Solid but is that a star player for UConn?
He doesn't need to be a star player. I was comparing him to Moore not El-Amin. I think what you wrote describes the following three UConn players. #1 I couldn't find freshman or sophomore numbers for.
UConn player #1: 7.5 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 3.5 APG, 1.6 SPG (44%, 33%, 73%) - Junior
6.8 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 3.6 APG, 1.1 SPG (42.3 FG%, 35.3 3PT%, 81% FT) - Senior
UConn player #2: 2.1 PPG, 0.8 RPG, 1.4 APG (38%, 0%, 72%) - Freshman
7.9 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 5.6 APG (39%, 11%, 74%) - Sophomore
6.4 PPG, 2.4 RPG, 6.1 APG (47%, 20%, 73%) - Junior
9.8 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 6.4 APG (51%, 31%, 81%) - Senior
UConn player #3: 8.1 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 4.9 APG (435, 25%, 55%) - Freshman
9.2 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 5.1 APG (46%, 30%, 65%) - Sophomore
7.7 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 4.8 APG (44%, 06%, 56%) - Junior
6.3 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 6.5 APG (42%, 20%, 55%) - Senior
Two of the above won NCAA championship trophies as starters. The other also has a ring.
