"ESPN’s coverage of the annual Jimmy V Women’s Classic presented by Corona – featuring top-ranked UConn’s 91-81 win over No. 3 Notre Dame on Saturday, Dec. 5 – tied the highest-ever overnight rating for a regular-season women’s college basketball game across ESPN networks with a 1.5. It ties the overnight rating for ESPN’s coverage of Stanford breaking UConn’s 90-game win streak on Dec. 30, 2010 on ESPN2.

The game garnered a 200% increase (1.5 vs. 0.5 meter market average) over ESPN’s presentation of the 2014 Jimmy V Women’s Classic – also a matchup between then-No. 1 UConn at No. 3 Notre Dame on Saturday, Dec. 6."

Very interesting that the top markets for this game were in the West:

"The top-10 markets: Hartford (9.3); Los Angeles (6.7); San Francisco (5.9); Portland (5.3); Seattle (5.0); Las Vegas (4.5); Sacramento (4.3); Phoenix (3.2); Salt Lake City (2.9) and San Diego (2.6)."

I don't remember all the channels, but did our WBB game precede the P12 title game? It's the only reason I could think of that all these western cities had such high viewership.

Arizona - Gonzaga MBB preceded our game and then P12 Championship followed us

Ahhhhhhh yeah, that would explain the higher than usual western ratings. It seemed to good to be true and probably is.

But they still watched or at least the TV was tuned in

That's right. It doesn't devalue the ratings. If Eastern teams had been on before and after, ratings would have been higher in the East. The point is, people who tuned in before were interested enough to keep watching, and people who planned to watch later were interested enough to tune in early.
