>>Hunter wrote most of the Dead's songs with Jerry Garcia and was renowned for bringing a literary sensibility to the band's songs, in collaborations that included their biggest radio and video hit, "Touch of Grey," as well as classics like "Casey Jones," "Dark Star," "Box of Rain," "Uncle John's Band," "Sugar Magnolia," "Brokedown Palace" and "Friend of the Devil." One of the most famous lines in rock, "What a long, strange trip it's been," came from Hunter's pen in the early FM staple "Truckin'."<<

He attended UConn for a semester. He played the UConn fight song when I saw him at the Agora in 1986.

RIP. Thanks for the music. Incredible body of work.

His body of work was vast and important.

The Agora, I saw Zebra there!

One great American lyricist. Told many great tales with his words and had the right band to present them. RIP Mr. Hunter

The first time I heard the Grateful Dead was the song China cat sunflower, it was playing out a dorm window at the private school I attended. The song drew me in like a Pied Piper. Special times

I have read that Robert Hunter finished high school in CT before attending UConn for a year. Does anyone know where in CT he attended high school?
