Knows the game well (e.g. the "Iverson screen").
Calls the game fairly.
Knows the players well (e.g. Purvis avoids contact on drive because FTs).
Balances game commentary and stories.
Good sense of humor.

Would love to have him call more games.

Anybody have thoughts on him?

Other than the facts that he's annoying, obnoxious, and doesn't know the difference between Robitussin and Icy Hot (probably due to his involuntary dismissal from Notre Lame), I think he's fine.

He is a dweeb. Typically misreads Uconn and isn't a believer...

I too thought he was decent as a live game announcer, but I sat behind him once during a game and I lost my credit card, I have no idea where I put it...

I've always liked hearing him talk about hoops. I know that the UCONN fans have thin skin and hate everyone that doesn't give us a love fest but I'm ok with that. I actually revel in the fact that there are haters out there. If nobody hates you, you don't matter.

He is knowledgeable and entertaining IMO.

He's zapped us a few times in the past but he's been incredibly kinder than he could have been as of late regarding our prospects for post season. He broke down individual plays better than any announcer I've heard recently. They call the games and give their take, and it's only bad if it's one sided and it wasn't with him. We have a team that has plenty to be criticized for if they want to do that.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone give a legitimate rationale as to why they can't stand Doris Burke. Maybe you can be the first?
