My Top 25 impact newcomers in college hoops -- combining freshmen and transfers: http://es.pn/1tGAj6F
------------

No UConn players listed, with Purvis and Hamilton probably the most likely candidates.

Purvis should have been on this list considering his projected role this year, but here's Goodman's explanation for leaving him off:

Jeff Goodman ‏@GoodmanESPN
@JackWitDaChoppa He was in the equation -- just concerned about 3 guys who love to shoot (Boatright, Purvis, Hamilton).

Never ending with this guy.

Yeah, because Napier and Daniels hated to shoot. What a tool.

This has been his line since we got Hamilton's commitment last year -- chemistry is going to be awful because we have 3 ballhogs. Goodman has hated Hamilton especially for a while, and isn't too fond of Purvis/Boat ither.

Goodman didn't like Hamilton in HS (because he didn't like his shot selection in 1 AAU game), didn't like Purvis @ NCST and has never liked the Huskies. Add those all together (and that we lack a Boston player this year), and its probably a good idea to ignore him this season.

The guy can go to hell for all I care.. how in the name of Christ Koumadje he has managed to make it on TV when he talks as if he's got a mouthful and he looks like a damned buffoon will forever remain a mystery to me. I believe Purvis is going to average 15 ppg for a top 20 team, so how this would not qualify as a top 25 impact newcomer is beyond me (maybe there could be a debate if it was top 10-15). I guess this oversight was just a new effort to reinforce his already douchetastic image:

I prefer schmuck as it describes something that is normally thrown away (unless it came from a famous person). The origin of putz is the infinitive to the verb "to shine or polish," which is why it is transferred to that uniquely male appendage.

Boat averaged 9 FGA/game last year, and Purvis averaged 7 FGA/game his freshman year at NC State, playing 32 and 25 MPG, respectively. This guy just gets ideas in his head without facts that actually back the ideas up. He sucks.

Napier and Daniels were at 14.1 and 14.4 FGA/40 minutes last year. Purvis was at 11.1 at NC State. Unless Daniel Hamilton is around 18, they're going to be asking these guys to shoot more, not less.

Excuse me, Goodman is NOT a PUTZ!

Rather, HE IS AN CLUELESS IDIOT! Get it right Dammit! Give him the credit he so richly deserves!

This MORON is so CLUELESS that it is of abnsolutely no point to listen to or read ANYTHING THAT COMES FROM HIM!
Its a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. One of this world's GREATEST MYSTERIES is how this workthless tool has ever been employed by names organizations such as FOX and now ESPN.

Its like goodman fails to acknowledge theres more to basketball than shot distribution. Having no hamilton or purvis is direct shot @ both. Romelo trimble, ... hamilton is like 40 spots ahead on rivals and is playing on a team that just won it all.

Both work for me. ;)

Everyone has preferences and everyone in greater NYC megalopolis uses schmuck at least once a day. Mandatory. So it's generally a more common albeit connotes less gravitas
in a stinging....errrr shinning ...err illuminating...polishing kinda way.

Goodman spent YEARS suggesting that a team could not win with Ryan Boatright in its lineup.

So just recap, having 3 potential scorers is a bad thing. Thanks Jeff, you don't get insight like anywhere else.

We don't know what we have yet- but in typical UCONN fashion we will once again be the underdog and surprise many talking heads before the season is over.
