Just thought I'd share this on here. Not sure how many people on the yard go to the Uconn Blog. The last guy was in law school in Chicago for a while so there wasn't much personal or up close information about the team. Looks like the new guy went to practice and seems to have the best overview of anyone I've seen. Maybe the rest of the hoard is just waiting for the right time.

I encourage everyone to go to the site and maybe give the kid a follow on twitter. @TheUconnBlog. Seems like he has some good observations. A lot more than I saw anywhere else.

Yeah - it got buried in the Open Practice thread before that got off-topic for a bit. He did a nice job.

Just an FYI - it was the 5th practice, but first one in full pads and the first one open to the public though.

The question is. Is the defense ahead of the offense ? Sounds like the offensive line boys still need to pick up their game. But or defensive line can be a handful

Yes, I was referred to his post earlier and was very impressed. Excellent coverage by Andrew and I'm now pleased to be following him on Twitter. I especially appreciate his coverage since I'm unable to attend these practices in person

Bill Parcells was once asked after a practice if he was concerned that the offense was ahead of the defense. he said something to the effect. ----I can do anything I want with practice. I can make the offense look better than the defense or the defense look better than the offense. If you don't know what I'm trying to accomplish with a certain practice, you have no way to judge what the team looks like.

I have attended numerous NY Giant training camps and scores of practices. You can tell a lot about individual players. Things like strength, speed, quickness, hands, motor, back petal, smoothness, etc. But without knowing the emphasis of a particular practice, it is tough to judge the team or even position groups.

We have a tough defensive line and lbs. The scheme is pretty much the same. Much of the offense esp the tempo and play calling is new and we're trying to get different guys involved. It has to be a work in progress that starts with determining personnel, then sharpening up the assignments and the mix of plays. I would guess settling the rotation as much as possible by the end of next week would be a good first step. It's hard to fool your own D when your teaching at the same time.
