Good news for Dook fans

Come on man. Flagg is 1A.
Flagg is an elite defender, high IQ, has great passing skills, and all the intangibles.

But his offensive skill leaves a lot to be desired. Hes good off a catch and shoot and can use his size and athleticism to get to the rim, but he doesn’t have great scoring creativity.

His best fit imo would be a team where his responsibility isn’t to be the best scorer so he can do everything else great. He showed all year at Duke he’s not that guy in the clutch that can get his own bucket.

I'm talking about the media and the BIG, SEC hype. Since when do they make the seeding?

Samson was probably as shocked with the Duke choke as anyone. Not sure he fully processed it before the interview. The players surrounding him and all the noise in the stadium didn't help. It's not like the academies where people have prepared speeches when they win. Still can't see how his statements bother you so much that you need to script write what he needed to say.
I gotcha.

Should be a good game tomorrow night either way!

.-.
Now we just need the Boozers twins to flip their commitments to Lucas and Miami

Sorry but puuulllleeeessssseeeeeee…….

Dude you were a #1 Seed!

Yeah, people were really “sleeping” on Houston!

Such an underdog! A #1 seed taking down another #1 Seed?

Yeah, Kevin no one saw this coming....

1. We know all about the media dogging #1 seeds that play Duke in the FF.

2. Cooper Flagg is no Christian Laettner.

3. 6>5

4. Hahahahaha

5. Houston is now the play. Samson isn't going to stick around long and a non-SEC champ is better for the game long term.

Compared to every other program except Indiana, it's absurd. 6 Titles in 7 Final Fours is a statistical anomaly.

Indiana and UCLA the only other programs with 4+ Final Fours with an above 50% ratio. Indiana was 5/6 after 1987, and are now 5/8; UCLA was 10/12 after 1975, and now are 11/19.

Florida have a 3/6 ratio after tomorrow night. It's hard to capitalize, and we've done so at an insane level.

Most Final Fours:

1. UNC: 21, 6
2. UCLA: 19, 11
3. Duke: 18, 5
4. Kentucky: 17, 8
5. Kansas: 16, 4
6. Ohio State: 11, 1
7. Louisville: 10, 3
7. Michigan State: 10, 2
9. Michigan: 8, 1
10. UConn: 7, 6
10. Villanova: 7, 3
10. Houston: 7, 0

Now do the last 50 years. No need to count the dead ball peach basket era or Helms Trophies.

The majority of us weren’t rooting for Duke but we were rooting for Flagg.
Where would you get a crazy idea like that? 1-800-kck-meth

Our energies are misdirected hating Duke.
My hate is great and justified. Laettner, Cherokee Parks, Wojo, the lesser Hurley, and all the others deserve every bit of venom I use on that school. I won't even get into all the times they cheated and the NCAA didn't want to punish the golden boys and K. Don't worry about my misdirection, I've got plenty of venom for others like BCU, Syracuse, UNCheat, Louisville, and surely a few more if I put some thought into it.

I just wanted to see a good basketball game.

I can never root for Duke because of the cockiness of being better than anyone else. They feel they are the best no matter what, and couldn't win it with the top class of freshman and very solid portal players. I think not having enough older players hurt them.
I like Flagg but never rooted for him for one second.

Congrats to the UConn women on winning their 12 National Championship and very happy for Paige

I mean, none of these are either of those definitionally. No school can match UConn's championship performance. You have to start college basketball during the 1969-1970 season before you have a team that also has 6 championships (UCLA). 1957 for UNC. 1951 for Kentucky. Those aren't Helms, and even without that the four major powers of Duke, UNC, Kentucky, and Kansas have more Final Fours unless you start at our first, those four have more or less kept pace. Those titles, prestige, etc. matter. It's why they have the boosters they do...not that we aren't holding our own.

That said, in redoing it along two different axes

At-large bids (1975), the list is:

1. UNC: 15, 5
1. Duke: 15, 5
3. Kentucky: 11, 4
4. Kansas: 10, 3
5. Michigan State: 9, 2
6. Louisville: 8. 3
6. UCLA: 8, 2
8. UConn: 7, 6
9. Florida: 6, 2*
9. Michigan: 6, 1
11. Indiana: 5, 3
11. Villanova; 5, 3
11. Houston: 5, 0*
14. Ohio State: 3, 0

64-team era (1985), the list is:

1. Duke: 14, 5
2. UNC: 12, 4
3. Kansas: 10, 3
4. Kentucky: 8, 3
5. Michigan State: 8, 1
6. UConn: 7, 6
7. Florida: 6, 2*
8. Villanova: 5, 3
9. UCLA: 5, 1
9. Michigan: 5, 1
11. Louisville: 4, 2
12.Indiana: 3, 1
12. Ohio State: 3, 0
14. Houston: 2, 0*

"UConn" era of 1999-today (Big Four only)

UNC: 7, 3 (10 Final Fours since 1995)
Duke: 7, 3
Kansas: 6, 2 (7 Final Fours since 1993)
Kentucky: 4, 1 (7 Final Fours since 1996)

Yeah, Kevin no one saw this coming....
You just made Sampson point
Yes the were a 1 seed and conference champion of a very respected conference
but only 9% of people mostly casual fans picked them to beat Duke ,
80% or more of the pregame coverage was on Duke . It was almost as if Houston was simply an opponent.
They were treated in the pregame story line like a non entity.
That‘s total disrespect not by the committee but by the media and the bandwagon fans.
Rational basketball people like most Boneyarders and I suspect serious basketball fans of most teams throughout the country certainly knew Houston could beat Duke .
But in the lead up , that wasn’t in the narrative.

The only thing that bothered me today, was some of the pundits on sports talk radio.

They were talking about how players like Clayton leaving small schools and going to blue blood schools like UNC, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, no UConn mentioned, means only the top basketball programs will be playing for chips. No more upsets.

This was kind of a theme of the morning slot on Mad Dog coupled with the Dook choke situation.

So this did not happen once it happened a couple times and I think Houston and Arkansas were thrown in once or twice.

We still don’t get the respect we deserve…….it is freakin unbelievable. I wonder how many chips we will need to win to be considered with Dook, UNC, Kansas or Kentucky because we all know where we stand in order. After this year I really don’t see Scheyer winning a chip and I think Dook will stick with him for at least another 4-5 years.

If Danny can get us two more before he leaves and we get to 8 before Dook gets 6 they may never catch us.

This was Duke's chance. Give us Flagg and we get at least this far.
We almost got this far we without him. The team that beat us by 2 points is playing for the championship Monday night. UConn wins the Florida game anything was possible with a little confidence. JMHO

.-.
Yeah his attempt at creating drama ”Oh poor us with our #1 Seed” no on respects us…

Boo Hoo…

Learn to win with some class….;
Come on. You realize this is what every other fan base says about Hurley, right?

Let Sampson fire his team up with whatever narrative he wants to create- they’re in the freaking national championship!

Jim Calhoun, Dean Smith and Bob Knight say hello.

Hurley, Pitino and Izzo still coaching, so I can understand leaving them off the list. But get a clue man!

Makes it look like Scheyer is not a student of the game. He may be hostile to UNC and UConn because of rivalries, but it's petty to refuse to acknowledge the greatness of rivals. He probably doesn't know a lot of history, so he picked Boeheim who has a lot of wins and he's familiar with from the ACC. Then he wanted to have a black coach for diversity, and John Thompson came to his mind.

Wooden, Calhoun, K, Adolph Rupp, Dean Smith, Bob Knight would be my list. If it has to be four, drop Smith and Knight.

Yes and if this what he said after a game like this, I’d be roasting him too.

Houston had no business winning that game, worst half of BB I’ve even seen a team play in 1st half of a FF game.

All I am saying is that you just won a game you shouldn’t have - thank the other team - thank players - thank whoever - move on to the NC! The whole no one respects us - as they sat there with #1 seed - for me at least, took away from a special moment.

It made it cringe worthy - again for me. But there are no rules on what to say / not say / just my 2 cents.

As bad as you may think their first half was, can you honestly say it was worse than Duke’s second? Or even their final seven minutes?

.-.
I honestly don’t know why I still hate Duke. We’ve completely owned them since 99 and I don’t GAF that the media loves them. Fgn Laettner…

The more I watch the replay of the infamous foul call, the less bad I think it is. Flagg didn't necessarily go over the back or anything, but he did hold/push Robert's arm down, if only briefly, but enough to not allow him to raise his arm for the rebound.
No different than McNeeley being called for the same thing in our Florida game. And that was a turning point.
