in a hostile environment. Aside from a few other teams, i have a feeling most games we play in the BE will be fairly close. I still maintain anything better than a .500 record will be a big accomplishment for a team with very little strength in the post, but certainly an entertaining team who is very easy to root for.

Next year, i think we will be very good. This year, a lot of "close but no cigar"...

Guys like Giffey and Calhoun really need to do a better job of hitting FT's - 1-5 between the 2 of them. Not necessarily a huge deal, but guards/wings gotta do better than 1-5... and nice come back from a pretty lousy first half...

Sure I would have liked to have seen them pull it out after tying the game up late, but they didn't quit and fought to the end.

Agreed. Abysmal first half and kudos to the team for now laying down.

All losses are bad losses.

Last year's team made the NCAAs. Let's see where his team ends up before dissing a 2011-12 team that faced more adversity than any team in memory.

And the perfect example of "no quit" is Shabazz playing thru an injury that has to make everything he has to do on the court painful and, despite his effort, alters body mechanics and execution. Of course, post-game, he won't play that card.

I didn't say "good loss". I said "good effort". Big difference.

Last year's team also had Lamb, AO, Drummond, and Roscoe Smith.

Glad they fought back, we just couldn't get a rebound, credit to Pitt for hitting some big shots. We need frontcourt help badly.

Last years team had a lot more experienced talent. 2011-12 was a team that underachieved and made a lot of their own problems. It was also one of JC's poorer coaching jobs.
This team doesn't have near the talent especially in the front court. They have no real PF, get beaten up on the boards but never give up unlike the 2011-12 team.

I've said this many times in my UConn fanship and I'll say it again, F Pitt, but glad this team made this loss look at least decent, very good fight near the end, but needs another motivation speech by Ollie, or we're going to be installing head-banging kits after Rutgers...

I think last years team was rated in the top five preseason, with two lottery picks. We lost 4 starters from that team, so this year this team is overperforming to date. Last years team underperformed-thats all people are saying. Plus this years team is fighting to the end.

I'd be upset with this type of loss most years, but seeing that there is no impact on post season play, it doesn't bother me that much. Seeing them improve, compete well and win the games they should and some of the ones they're not supposed to is what I'm looking for this season.

Of course I want them to win all their games, and it's a little disappointing that they lost a game today that they should have won if they had played smarter and with more composure in the first 3/4th of that game, but seeing how hard the competed and how they battled back made me proud.

Hopefully they string together a few nice Ws.

I traveled the distance to watch at my sister's house and feel it was worth watching all through. Last year's team often left me feeling like I was wasting my time and perhaps would have lost a game like this by 15+. Still all in.

They showed heart in fighting back. Rebounding and poor shooting certainly contributed but the unforced turnovers in the first half killed their chances

This game is totally different with a healthy SN. I would also say the second half of the Ville game would have been different as well. SN is to this team as Kemba was to the 2010 team!
