Don't know how Nan missed it for her daily links, but the NY Times ran a piece in the paper version today about "Aglianico, A Red with a Sense of Place" that discussed some pleasant to very good Taurasi products from the Avellino section of Italy. Aglianico is the grape varietal, and Taurasi is the small wine region where aome of the best Aglianico is made. The wine gets much of its quality from its volcanic surroundings and high-altitude, features that might also have have featured in DT's personality and shooting. Viewing a map of the town, it looks like one of those weird gerrymandered voting districts in the South. It seems to be only about 12 miles as the non-drunk crow flies or 25 miles as the car drives on windy mountain roads from Montella, Geno's hometown. I'd never realized how close together the two were, except of course for the player and coach on the court.
