After Indiana's loss tonight, unless Gonzaga loses they will most likely be #1 next week. Their SOS is only 79th, but their RPI numbers actually look pretty good. 2-0 vs the top 25, 5-2 vs top 50, 10-2 vs top 100. Looking back at their schedule though, they've only played 3 teams who were ranked at the time they played - Butler, Okie State and Illinois. They went 1-2 in those games losing to Butler and Illinois, and only beating #23 Okie State by 1.
It reminds me a bit of Saint Josephs in 2004 when they went 27-1 and despite it being pretty obvious they weren't the best team in the country, they were given the #1 overall seed. Even if Gonzaga wins out and gets the overall #1 seed I'm pretty sure I'll still be leaving them out of my final four.
