Either matchup would have been a threat. UCLA would have had 95% of the crowd, and Cronin has owned Hurley. They would have made it an ugly game, and while their lack of bigs would have been a huge advantage, I would argue their guards are better than ours.

Not taking Gonzaga lightly. But I like playing a team in this round, on short prep, who is not great defensively.

Just out of curiosity because I’m bored, what is this a reference to? UConn played Cincinnati twice in Hurley’s first season with an absolutely dogisht squad and lost by a combined 6 points. Then Cronin went to UCLA and I don’t think they’ve faced each other since.

Cronin has owned Hurley.

Go hard at the guards, make them defend the kick and the dumpoff, get them into foul trouble. Give Timme his but don't get burned by 3s.

Jackson, Newton, Hawkins and Alleyne need to exploit their guards on drives.

If ’giving Timme his’ means 36 points, I don’t like that.

I’m going with Timme to have the advantage in the post and UConn needing Hawkins to outplay Zags backcourt, which I think he can do.

Feels like a toss up.

Gonzaga is a Fiddler crab. They’ve already outperformed traditional fiddler crabs by historical standards.

Love that Fanta interview with DC! UConn hit a gold mine in Bristol Central with DC and VC! Two very special young men.
