Gonzaga loses 70-69 to Portland in the WCC Semi- Finals. Gonzaga is going to the tournament, that means WCC will get two teams in the Tournament.

As I just saw Toy Story the other day "Mrs. Potato Head, Mrs. Potato Head, Mrs. Potato Head", to translate to "let it be Tennessee, let it be Tennessee, let it be Tennessee"!!!

I mean, a guy can dream can't he???

Charlie Creme has Boston College Out, after just putting them in the Tournament after UCF Loss to Cincinnati.

Well, he has to make a living and if he wasn't so wishy, washy, he wouldn't be on ESPN every day between now and Selection Monday (and since last month, at least).

Which other PNW team choked?

And this one was against a PNW team, so it cancels out.

Boise St. won the Mountain West, Oregon absolutely cruised to the Pac 12 title, I'd say PNW is repping pretty well thus far.

Gonzaga in the 2017 Men's championship game .... I'll NEVER forgive that school

Is Iowa the newest #3 seed following Gonzaga's upset loss today. If so, a huge gift and opportunity for Iowa to avoid playing a #1 seed until the Elite Eight.

I don't like to put too much significance on conference tourney games, but how does Iowa move up after their absolutely terrible performance against Ohio St.?

I wondered about that as well. Based upon RPI, Iowa may be the best of the projected #4 seeds prior to Gonzaga's loss. DePaul, Oregon State, and Arizona are the other projected #4 seeds besides Iowa as of today.

I'd vote for Arizona to move up. Their loss to Oregon looked a whole lot better than Iowa's loss to Ohio St.

So this is how ND got back at BC for beating them twice this year. Somehow they inspire Portland (which is ND's sister school also run by Holy Cross priests) to beat the favored Jesuit school Gonzaga which then knocks their rival Jesuit school out of the NCAA tourney. Sweet.

So if Portland can beat San Diego tomorrow we will have 3 Oregon schools in the tourney. Plus PSU is still alive in the Big West tourney, as they won the first round of the Big Sky tourney and play Idaho tomorrow in Boise. Doubtful they get the championship since they need to win 3 moremand are the 7th seed. Still they did make it last year to the toruney. So if they do as well as UP win, the state of Oregon will go 4-4 for our D1 schools to make the NCAAs.

Domer,
I appreciate your enthusiasm for all things Oregon. However, I think that there likely won't be a lot of love lost on this board rooting for Oregon-based teams for the remainder of the season. Oregon will certainly have a big target on its back the rest of the season, especially on this board if Connecticut gets sent to the Portland regional.

I don't know about all the internecine politics of religious schools, but I'm loving the fact that a sorry team like Portland might make the NCAAs while Notre Dame won't :)

Anybody at UP loves that as well....that's why I love the irony. Often the President of UP is a Holy Cross priest who went to ND. They are mostly a soccer and cross countey school.

Ah that's true. They are a soccer power. I often forget that when I have my head in the basketball season.

You mean you actually think you have something IN your head? Curious...

Sorry, I couldn't resist, you did leave the door wide open...:D

But I digress, Ok BYers, let's get back on topic and find 4 more schools to lose Auto bids to bump Tennessee off the last 4 in line...
Sorry Florida Gulf, you have to take one for us BYers
Same for you Baylor, WVU needs to step up
Sorry James Madison, you too need to bow out.
Who else is there???

South Dakota in the Summit League tourney.

Missouri State and Drake would both need to lose in the MVC.

Princeton would've needed to lose, but the Ivy tourney is canceled, so no bid stealing there.

You already mentioned FGCU, but I doubt that James Madison is ahead of TN in the pecking order as of now, and they almost certainly wouldn't be with an additional loss.

Same goes for Central Michigan in the MAC. They have a really high RPI but their resume is not at all good. If they lose in the MAC tournament, it'll be their 3rd loss in the last 4 games, and I'll be shocked if they get an at-large bid ahead of TN.

Sorry to bear bad news, but ...

Zach Collins bricked in a three to end a huge South Carolina run that was the most fun I've ever had at a sporting event in the Semi-Final.

I'm ain't mad at Gonzaga though. Mad at Stupid flu virus that got Sin Thornwell.

An All Carolina final would have been bonkers, mostly for the Chapel Hill folks who would have been so confused. South Carolina might have been able to help y'all out.

sorry for the continued diversion.
