Thinking about changing up an annual golf trip. Used to go to Myrtle Beach and last few years been going to Florida. Looking for ideas on other places. This is a 4-5 day trip so easy travel is important. Somewhat budget conscious as well so thinking there may be some under the radar options to consider. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Time of year is flexible. Last few years have been mid January.

Mid-January means SE. You can put a fine trip around the publics in West Palm Beach area (including the Par 3 course). I don't know much about St Simons or Jax Beach, but those would be good too.

If you can hold off until May or so, check out Cabot in Canada. Looks incredible.

I source a bunch of ideas from the Golfwrx board:

I have to go to Scottsdale in about a month and there seems to be a ton of quality golf. Cheap airfare too, a hair above 300 for round trip. Unfortunately, I do not like golf so does anyone have any recommendations for non-golf activities in the area or am I going to spend my afternoons in the casino?

Look into Ocean City, Hilton Head, and Biloxi. Some green fees can get expensive but you can play some good courses and get decent green fees if you look around. Ocean City has some really nice courses and it is an easy drive.

Without a price point, it's tough.

Alabama has the Robert Trent Jones golf trail. You can cover a bunch of locations in no time.

Jacksonville, Florida gets you TPC Sawgrass and a bunch of others.

Hilton Head you can do without even trying.

Monterrey, California gets Pebble and Spyglass.

Streamsong in Florida has several good courses on one resort.

Direct to Dublin while we still have the flight? Thats easy travel. Portmarnock, Ardglass, Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, Portstewart all close by.

Non-golf suggestions:
Get lots of massages. The ones at the Biltmore are particularly brutal.
Taliesen West is cool (Frank Lloyd Wright)
Pizzaria Bianco opens at 11am.
Vincent's at Camelback - nothing like it in US: French/Southwest fusion. It's an oldie but still great. Big fan here.

Biloxi is an easy shot over to New Orleans. I haven't played a ton of golf down there, maybe 3-4 rounds, but I recall prices were fair although even the name-brand courses were uninspiring. Might be better values/challenges off the coast.

I'd also consider west coast of Florida for decent moderately priced golf around Sarasota/Bradenton or (hesitate to recommend it) Orlando/Kissimmee. The Jax area (Amelia Island/Sawgrass) is pricey.

Thanks for this. Bianco was already on the list. Will try to check out Vincent's as well. A nice spa day seems like a great rec.

I've gotten great deals at PGA National in March. Ridiculous suites for like $200 a night and there are 5 courses on site plus another dozen in short driving range.

Plus the good taco place just up the street is all you can eat Monday-Wednesday. And if you like Base Ball, the Marlins and Cards are 10 minutes away.

If it wasn't Florida could totally live in the townhouses on the courses.
