Fans have said Geno wins because he gets the players. Well this season he had the players and for most of the season they were sitting on the bench. He still found a way to get this team to win. This may be one of his best coaching jobs of all time especially with NPOY Paige on the bench for the season and Azzi HS/NPOY on the bench for most of the season, along with everybody else. Heck one game he didnt have enough players to play and we had to reschedule the game. Look at other teams who had injuries and how they did? Most not very well. Just have to say it.

Great job by Geno the coaching staff and the medical people who got our players back in shape.

Furthermore, look at it from the opposite perspective. UCONN played without its best player and one of the best in the country all season. Where would Iowa be without Clark, SC without Boston, Nova without Siegrist, VT without Kitley, Stanford without Brink, etc., etc. From where I sit the coaches of those teams would not have achieved what Geno did this year.

For those who would say that SC is much more than Boston that is very true. However they wouldn't be virtually unbeatable without the protection she gets from the refs from all the fouls she commits but aren't called. Sorry if you disagree with that but you're just not paying attention.

Geno has done more with less than anyone in WBB, ever. Shout out to Lou who has a couple of quiet games but carried us through the bad lands when we could just barely field a team, that was incredible. If there was a BA award for the regular season, Lou has to be in the top of the discussion.

Good information during last night's broadcast on the special treadmill Azzi used during her rehabilitation. This helps make sure that she did not favor the knee or affect her gait.

It's hard to disagree that Boston is allowed to get away with fouling while the refs seem to resemble the "pro" wrestling refs of the old days. The ones that always seemed to be looking the other way while someone was getting hit over the head with a folding chair.
Actually, Boston seems to combine basketball with a form of rugby. It's been grandfathered in for her.

Geno is an outstanding coach. The days of folks saying he only wins because of the players he gets are long gone. It is also obvious he wouldn't get them if he wasn't a wonderful coach.

A general feeling is that if given any team with decent players he would have more success than their current coach.

Where the quality of UConn player comes in, however, is the sustained excellence of the program as the greatest of all time. Even Geno would admit he doesn't play the game, and he has had excellent players (some, among the best ever) to rise to heights that can only be achieved with that level of player.

As to the other teams who would be struggling without their stars like Clark, Kitley, etc. - yes, and that's fine too. At the lowest point of the UConn season, I would say UConn struggled a bit as well. Geno was generally able to be successful in spite of it, and some other coaches might not be.

It feels so good to experience the loving interconnectedness of this team … I love reading the stories of caring for each other through the statements they make about their very close teammates … what a wonderful experience for them and us … Geno and Chris created this …

Geno has great players up and down the bench. Sure some of them aren't 5 star but that is because they are foreign players but even they played for very good club teams. I would agree he is a masterful game planner, he is also a great recruiter who gets the players that HE wants, and has attention to detail like no other. No other team in the country has the depth in their roster that UCONN has and that has been true for 20 years.

I have seen great recruiters, and I have seen great game planners, even great coaches but Geno is one of the only if not the only one that has all three components. This year at times he was down 4 players that he figured to be the core of his team and that put him out of his comfort zone but any fan of Geno knew when they came back they would shoot to the top. And that is where they sit now.

Of course, we all know that Paige believes that she, as the real bench general, is the reason we're playing so well. :D

On the other hand the refs never miss the opportunity to blow the whistle against any in position opponents for any contact she originates when rebounding. I’m repeating comments I’ve made in other threads, but the refs appear to be blowing their whistles on her opponents in anticipation of her being fouled.
