As noted earlier in the season. Gilbert is slowly learning his new larger, stronger body. He is also -slowly- regaining his quickness. But I believe he hasn't truly adjusted yet. He will get quicker and faster.

The most important adjustments thus far are in his approach to the game. Tonight he didn't force anything. The 10 to 1 assist to turn over ratio was sensational. Shooting 3 of 6 from behind the arc is very, very good. But these improvements are more mental than physical.

When he puts the physical and mental together, we will see the high school All American we recruited. Be patience. It's coming. And that will be fun for everyone especially Gil.

Noticing he’s lifting his left arm to collect rebounds and on close outs. He’s slowly gaining trust in it again
If he’s able to confidently drive to his left this season, he will be almost unstoppable

Mostly happy that he has stopped the out of control drives to the hoop that typically lead to blocks or turnovers. Huge turnaround in his game.

Yeah. Gilbert is so quick and good off the dribble that he can always get by his man. But that doesn’t mean that he needs to drive to the rim. Quick short guys like kemba understand that they can use their speed to get the defense off balanced and make a positive play without going all the way to the rim, and then pick their spots and go go all the way to the rim when it’s not expected. Gilbert is learning that.

People don't realize Gilbert has only played the equivalent of one and a half seasons of college basketball in terms of games played. From an experience standpoint, he's essentially just starting his soph year. Not to mention, he's only had 1 healthy off season to work on his game instead of rehabbing.

He's going to continue to find his stride and role on this team. He'll make many posters here (after Xavier game) look very foolish.

This is such a bogus narrative. He’s at the same weight he was at last year (180), and is finishing at the rim worse than ever. If he’s stronger it hasn’t been noticeable at all. It’s just an excuse for him being cold to start the season. He’ll be fine, but there’s no need to go down this road to justify his performance.

That Xavier game was blown out of proportion. He is a senior guard that was trying to make plays for his team. He’ll learn and will only get better. Yeah he’s been here for a long time but practice does not equal real game experience. As the season progresses he’s gonna get better and better. His size is a great disadvantage however, as more teams see that he’s driving and dishing defenses will adjust which will give him a better opportunity to finish at the rim. Go listen to his post game comments for the Iona game and tell me you wouldn’t want this guy as your leader.

This board is bipolar and psycho. It was just 2 weeks ago when some people here were calling for AG to be benched.

He was playing bad then. He's playing better now.

He didn't have 1 game with an ORTG above 100 in the first 5. Has done it both of the last 2 (in fact above 140).

He's playing differently. Whether the message to change was sent by internet trolls or this message board or much, much more likely Hurley, he's done it. He took at least 5 2pt shots in all but 1 of the first 5 games, and the 1 he only played 11 minutes due to the ankle injury. He was 7 for 35 on those shots. In the last 3, he hasn't taken more than 3 in a game, and he's 6 for 8.

He's gotten better because of the game minutes he's been playing. He doesn't get through the slump by sitting on the bench. In terms of the number of games played, he's a sophomore so he needs as much game action as possible.

Sometimes the pendulum swings too far in both directions. As long as he's not forcing shots that aren't there, or leaving his feet without a plan he's a very good player, and a clear benefit to the team. He doesn't need excuses, he has plenty. But he still needs to play smart.

He's the best on the ball defender in the program.
Really patient against the press.
His shooting will turn around. Coach has already gotten on him about reckless driving into the trees.
37-15 assists/turnovers by far the best ratio on the team.
Plays 30 mins a game just below Vital.
I predict he will have a great season and be backing leading the team next year.

Justify how good he has played in the last 3? I mean last night was really good and he seems to be getting better.

Not sure who's noticed or who cares to but we are going as AG goes. He just brings things to both ends of the court that others can't do and when he is like the last few games others are getting better too, that's what he does.

He's playing better the last 3 games because he's changed his game. He's thinking the game much more now. He was quick as hell in his first 5 games this season just like he was quick as hell his first 3 years and quick as hell his last 3 games. This narrative that he wasn't quick to start the season is complete nonsense.

He's always taken whoever guards him off the dribble but was almost always going too far in the lane and getting swallowed up.

Thanks to Hurley, Taliek, and mostly Alterique it seems like the first 5 games are in the rearview. He's now only taking the shots when they're there and he's taking his man off the dribble to set up others instead of getting swallowed up in the lane and throwing up wild shots near the rim.

He's playing a way better floor game the last three and I expect that to continue and get better, he hasn't played a lot with these guys in games and he can now see they can all play. He doesn't have to do it himself and him trying to do it himself hurts us. It's all about using his quickness but making it a controlled quickness to set up others and take what the D gives him. His defense has been great as well.
