Germany. He might be able to make it for a cup of coffee in the NBA but no reason for him to, with a great career in the German league and with the Olympic team waiting for him back home. He probably can even make more money in Germany.

I think he goes to Germany for a couple of years, develops his ability to put the ball on the floor a little bit, and then comes back to the NBA in around 3 years and plays for another 10. He's 6'7', with better than average leaping ability, he's much stronger than he looks, great 3 point shooting, excellent defender -- he's Steve Novack plus he can defend. A great bench player in the NBA.

He has already stated that he hopes to give the summer league, d league thing a shot, and possibly earn his way onto a roster. Germany will always be there for him.

Every NBA has a couple dudes who only shoot open corner threes. Nielsen can do that and more. By tourney time everyone knew he could shoot. The last 6 games he was a lock down defender, board monster and drove nicely a few times. I say he's better than some NBA guys getting minutes.

He will, undoubtedly, go where the money is. If he can make more in Germany, that's what he's gonna do...

Family in germany, assured of meaningful minutes and longevity in germany...or the possibility of more money with the caveat of the revolving NBA door. His situation isn't that unlike KO's(To the rest of the country who doesn't understand that KO isn't considering the NBA).

Has he?

I'm interested. He's capable of being a good defender at the pro level. And he's a lights out shooter. Like someone said, in the right system, he could be a role player.

I don't like the idea of not being able to see Niels play anymore..

Giffey said he wants to get a chance in summer league/training camp. I'll root for him. No need to put a cap on his potential like many posters on this thread. He was the second most efficient shooter in the country and guarded a lotto pick pf in the title game, FYI.

Giffey is kind of a tweener; not quick enough to play the 3 and not strong enough to play the 4. He will have a nice career in Europe but the NBA is probably unrealistic. Then again I thought the same about Adrian so who knows.

You could say the same about Kyle Korver and look how long he's been around. Hell, you could say the same about McDermott and he's a projected top 10 pick.

Giff might have the highest BBIQ I've ever personally seen. As he's shown at UConn, I think he could adapt and fill whatever role necessary to get a spot on somebody's bench if that's what he wants to do. Teams could do worse than an 8th-9th man with his shooting, toughness, IQ
