Finally a guy that finally steps up and took a guy out trying to Dunk - good for Giffey.

Giffey seems to give us bettter D against the 3's and I love him moving the ball and tapping the ball to teammates. Tyler has not played well since his family made a big deal out of the Fairfield game. At this point Giffey is the better option. During Tyler's minutes we went from 6 to 14 down against MU and 4 to 9 down against CUSE. He is getting beat down court and out muscled inside.

Quite frankly, from a coach's perspective we have been losing games due to 2-4 minute lapses in the 1st half - which is unusual. Time to give the minutes to Roscoe and Giffey.

I'm with you. Even though those guys aren't great offensive threats (although Roscoe was solid with some baskets) they give so much when they're on the floor. Daniels should NOT be getting time over Neils. I think he can have a bright future here but he's just not there yet.

I really liked Niels's play tonight, especially when he clobbered that 'cuse guy driving for the dunk. I know he didn't score, but I also liked what I saw when he drove to the hoop. He had the ball with the shot clock winding down twice and he just put the ball on the floor and shredded through the outside of that zone. The shots didn't fall, but it took balls to do it and it damn near worked.

Niels hustled and scrapped out there tonight...only mistake was not to pull up for a floater when he drove against Melo and got blocked badly leading to a 'Cuse fast break. The block on Waiters was awesome and not a dirty play at all

Olander's minutes need to go down.

I don't mind giving Daniels some minutes, but he should absolutely not have a green light to shoot.

Good post and a very astute and correct analysis. Roscoe will be a starter for our team the rest of the year and he should have been from the start like I have said. There is no question that Giffey should take both Daniels and Olanders minutes as those 2 are unable to provide anything more than a missed shot or a turnover for our team. They are complete negatives whereas Roscoe and Giffey are huge positives. Daniels future at UCONN will be like Curtis Kelly's and Coombs McDaniels(not very long).

They played about 36 good minutes. His time in is when they fell apart for a short period.

He's a nice player. This year, though, he just ain't bringing what we need.

Why give him minutes then? What else does he bring?

Waiters scored almost all of his points in the first game going right to the basket and was pretty much untouched every time.

Last night, he went right down the pipe and dunked it and uconn's bigs just let him do it.

Giffey didn't let him do that and Waiters went down hard and was grabbing his wrist. Glad he wasn't hurt, but that sent a message.

Considering what the refs were letting Cuse get away with we we had the ball in close, I'm not sure that Giffey's stop was even a foul. He got all ball at first and got some arm well after. AO, AD & Roscoe all scored in close after getting grabbed before they shot (without an and one call for any of the three) and RS was tackled on the last play of the game.

Especially with Bazz basically at 40% with his injuries Giffey is the guy to go to because he can handle the ball some, pass, move w/o the ball and defend the perimeter. Lamb needs to be much more assertive - he is our best player on offense - other than AD -

This team needs to make plays like Giffey's more often. How many times do we see Alex or Drummond step aside to let someone go right to the rim? Once in a while they need to clobber someone on his way in so next time they think twice. Does anyone think Donny Marshall or Kevin Freeman would lay down a red carpet for them?

Let Daniels hand out water and tell him his time will be in 2014

Henry good point. The thing that really perplexes me is that Freeman is on the coaching staff(admittedly in Operations) but he seems to be Andre's unofficial mentor - You know he must be sayaing that to him. Andre needs to get over the fear of fouling out and just play - you will see a leap in his game when he does that.

Good for NG. He definitely gave us some energy in the second half. That block on the dunk attempt was nice as he got ball but unfortunately he also got body with his lower half. Though at least he said don't come into our house without getting hit.

How was DD ever a top 10 pick? This kid has no game and is soft as a feather.
