Really shocked that State has lost 2 in a row, they looked really good before the Louisville game. Maybe they had a hangover from Thursday? (I did not catch any of the game tho.)

Some of the best on-the-fly sports journalism, right here on the Boneyard!

Seriously, you do a great job. I love how win or lose, you so objectively chronicle the events.

You haven't been following NC State athletics for the last 30+ years, have you? Not that I would expect you to, but anyone who has knows that stuff like this happens all the time. (Except for our wrestling, swimming and track/field teams. Our wrestling team is AWESOME).

40 years since the last ACC football title.
33 years since the last ACC MBB title.
30 years since the last ACC WBB title.
28 years since our last baseball title.

Being an NC State alum (and fan) builds character. Enjoy the good times because we know there's bad stuff lurking just around the corner that can bite you at any time.

If there is a team out there that would cause me to scratch my head more than
Georgia Tech, I'm unaware of it.

Being a resident of NC, and after watching a couple of their games this season, I actually thought that they looked like a good team this season. I was happy to see the #4 ranking this week but alas, they had to play this week. Oh well, there's plenty of time to right the ship. :) .

NC State Stuff

If you doubt that NC State "STUFF" (we tend to call it something else)...look no further than the end of the NC State/BC men's game. Down 1 point with 15 seconds left, NC State brings the ball down the court, loses it...BC guys grabs control of it after being out of bounds first (which can't be reviewed), passes the ball downcourt for a BC score. Then, NC State misses a desperation THREE.

NC State STUFF is real, I tell you!

NC State senior PG and three-point specialist Ace Konig has been nursing a foot injury. At the end of the GT game, her foot was covered in ice, and she was limping. Ace hasn't scored in our last two games.

First significant injury for NC State this season. Ace was making a run at Jennifer Howard's school record for THREEs in a career but now is well off the pace, considering how many games we have left this season.

Well they were saying on the radio all week... that it would be just like State to go on the road for a big win @ Syracuse... then turn around and lose to Boston College  Can't say I wish the Men's team luck in their next game, though Duke has a tough time playing in PNC.

I looked at the replay on ESPN3. I haven't seen either team this year.

Your review is great and accurate. Pan and Hermosa worked wonderful stuff and NC State didn't look like the team that has been touted all season.

BTW, there was a male player doing the commentary. I have not seen this in women's basketball. He seemed to be an NC State grad. Do you know who he was?

Ernie Myers.... he was a reserve on the NC State Men's team that won it all in 1983.

Ernie Myers, who was on our 1983 NCAAT Championship team.

It's frankly hard for me to sympathize with the "stuff" of NC State fans, as a former young kid growing up in Houston who suffered through that loss.

I was a junior in high school and had a part-time job as a bagger at a grocery store and was scheduled to work the Monday night of the championship game. If the opponent had been anyone else, I might have tried to arrange a trade but since Houston was so much better than NC State, I decided to go ahead and work my shift that night. The final chore of the night was to sweep and mop the floor. The manager was nice enough to put the game on the loudspeakers so I could listen to the game while I was performing my closing duties and couldn't believe it when State actually stayed in the game, and eventually won it.

When I got home, my dad was more excited than I'd ever seen him. Usually, on a school night, I had to go right to bed when I got home but on that night, he and I stayed up well past midnight talking about the game, a special father/son bonding moment that I still fondly remember.

I was in 5th grade.... I remember watching the Saturday Final 4 games at my Grandparents during Easter Break. Returned home and watched the Championship game upstairs in my Sister's room. Can't remember if I was yelling and screaming..... but I was probably stomping all around the room when that shot went in. I do recall going to the store the next week and getting a bottle of the Wolfpack Special Edition Red Soda bottled by Coke.. that celebrated the National Title. I don't know what happened to that bottle... but I'll probably shouldn't admit this. Keep this in this thread. I still have a empty bottle of the Tarheel Special Edition Blue Soda that celebrated the 1982 title in my kitchen         :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

I still have an unopened 6-pack of the Wolfpack Special Edition; probably would be flat if drunk today but probably worth a little bit of money now, after all these years. I'm not selling, tho!

(And I will admit...I did purchase some of the UNC Soda, too). You keep my secret; I'll keep yours.
