Georgetown with a Top 20 recruiting grab

With Pitino seemingly retiring soon, going to need Georgetown and Nova to step up.

Georgetown is actually pretty scary because if they get it going the DMV floodgates are going to open for them recruiting wise.

Agreed. Tremendous unrealized potential.

The whole Sorber situation hurt them too. Lost him for a good chunk of the year, and they didn't think he was a one and done.
Georgetown would've at the very least been on the NCAA bubble with a healthy Sorber last year. His one-and-done announcement for the NBA was unexpected by Cooley.

For whatever reason, known or unknown to me, I still find the notion of Ed Cooley doing poorly more appealing than not. My first thought was, "I hope the kid transfers after his first year...if he even shows up."

Of course, it's not me being my highest self, but it does give me something to root for, and I don't care if I turn out to be wrong. Maybe I'll be indifferent in another year or two, but it's still fun to wish that he does poorly.

The guy did win the BE at PC - a feat not easy.
We're still talking about a guy with 3 NCAA Tournament wins in his career. Can he get Georgetown to an occasional tournament, probably. But the idea of Georgetown being the team to carry the Big East along with UConn and Creighton seems like a stretch

Ed said give me until year three and nobody was willing to do so. People don't understand the mess he had to clean up off the court first. A good Georgetown will benefit everyone.
Word in DMV HS coaching circles is that Ewing pretty much did nothing to build relationships in the area.

Cooley has been on it in that aspect. Coaches like him, and they’re ready to send their kids there if he shows he can win and get them to the NBA.

Having two guys drafted last year was a start. Probably doesn’t hurt to have Paul VI alum Abraham there if he succeeds with him. I think he started their exhibition against Kentucky too.

One appearance in the second weekend, one. That's shockingly bad

And PC treated him like their version of my Avatar

I didn’t have you pegged as a hater but it’s good to have you in the club. I suppose policing grammar is a great way to hate on the DL.

Well, in a sense I don’t know if we were recruiting this guy but at the end of the day we do kind of want to see the big east stay strong, I mean it’s kind of a good thing, maybe they look at it and they get a chance to play you a couple times a year that’s a plus for them, they get to play in New York City. Good them, I think we’re gonna be fine..

It’s also easier than ever to recruit highly ranked freshman! Promise them a starting gig and pay them a crap ton. The issue is keeping them.
However, this is good for the BE

Any coach that does well at Providence usually ends up on my permanent do not like list, especially if they poach players from UConn. I despise Providence more than any other team because of the repeated shafting UConn gets in officiating against them.

Historically, there’s a lot of reasons kids will like Georgetown. They have a pretty great alum base.

They’re also leading for the lefty Qayden Samuels. Two top 25 recruits in Cooley’s 3rd year wouldn’t be bad.

They have a ways to go before they’re anywhere close to us. But it would be cool for them to be good so people can talk about the history we have with each other. I’d prefer that and storytelling that can involve Ray Allen and Allen Iverson or Hasheem Thabeet and Roy Hibbert than have Creighton be our main rival people associate us with.
