I think Geno was trying to get is #1 team more time against a good zone.Anyone able to shed light on why Kayleigh played so little and not at all in 4th 1/4? I thought she played with her usual intensity and looked good when she was in.
Looking at this game it is evident how really difficult it is for all of the Huskies to stay mentally sharp to produce crisp, precise passes when playing less competitive and talented teams. Competition of similar capability heightens court awareness that drives more consistent and polished performance. Playing against inferior competition or "playing down" that UConn is experiencing in the Big East (aka Big Easy😕) can unfortunately, like in this game, result in lapses of concentration and even lazy play. There were a lot of very strange/careless passes in this game by Uconn starters.
On the other hand, it's just possible that the review of video from the 2nd half of last night's game might serve as motivation for a tremendous effort. And by the way, with only a little over a day to prepare for Seton Hall tomorrow, I wouldn’t expect a thing of beauty by the Huskies on Saturday. UConn probably got into their hotel in NJ after midnight this morning. Today they’ll watch some film, go over the Scout from the previous Seton Hall game this season and get a quick practice in. At the same time, Seton Hall has had almost 4 days to prepare for UConn.
In the postgame presser, Geno mentioned getting Azzi and Sarah up to 30 minutes a game to prepare for the postseason. There are just fewer minutes left to go aroundAnyone able to shed light on why Kayleigh played so little and not at all in 4th 1/4? I could totally see the coaches using these two games as tournament prep with the Seton Hall game getting moved up a day.In the postgame presser, Geno mentioned getting Azzi and Sarah up to 30 minutes a game to prepare for the postseason. There are just fewer minutes left to go around
Williams was 3-3 from the field with only 1 TO. No complications thereWilliams still has a tendency to over complicate perfect feeds to her in the post. Just catch the ball, go up and put it in the hoop. Saturday might be ugly, because players will be tired and Seton Hall is not competitively inspiring. No matter the rhetoric, it is hard to give 100% when the competition is just not there. And one sided games tend to get chippy and physical. UCONN doesn't need that. I do hope they get back to Storrs before that snow rolls in.
Thanks for the tip. but for me these kinds of games are unwatchable on replay. For those that have HBO MAX, the replay is available.
I get that, makes sense, but K9 usually comes in for Ash or Shade with Blanca and didn’t, so I thought maybe something happened.I think Geno was trying to get is #1 team more time against a good zone.
