George Washington (Jen Rizzotti) vs Dayton

The game is on CBS Sports Network. These two teams have pretty good fundamentals and play tough defense but it looks like GW is still adjusting to Jen's system. GW is down 12-2 midway through the first quarter.

Both Dayton and GW have very good spacing in their half court offensive sets. I don't know that a lot of teams work on spacing enough. I guess teams would rather run up and down the court and score on the fast break but they can't always do that. While not perfect, Dayton and GW are showing how pretty a game can be when teams understand the concept of spacing.

Jen made some nice defensive adjustments and the GW kids who had been getting good shots that just didn't go down finally got the ball to go through the net. Now 24-23 Dayton.

No one will mistake these for two elite teams but as mid-major games go, this one is terrific. Very high quality coaching. If these two had some high level recruits, they'd be pretty darn good.

Yeah, both teams pretty much seized up in the last few minutes, but it was still fun to watch everyone laying it all out there.

I've been saying that about Jabir for so long, and Dayton still has his fingerprints all over it. I hope he returns somewhere soon.
