George Springer is a beast | The Boneyard

George Springer is a beast

I remember seeing him in the conference tournament in 2011 and thinking he couldn’t make the majors without cutting down on his k%. I think i might have been wrong.
I mean in all fairness to you, he was somewhat limited by his strikeout issues earlier in his career and has really overcome those in a big way.

Yeah, the guy has a .270/.361/.488 career slash including .279/.365/.512 in the last three years, a stretch during which he has made exactly zero “sacrifice hits.” He will make his outs, but with his production, I don’t really care how he makes his outs.

Springer is now tied for 10th place all time with 7 World Series homes runs. If he hits another he moves into a tie for 7th.

He is also tied with Chase Utley (2009) and Reggie Jackson (1977) as the all time leader for home runs hit in a single series in 2017.

Most World Series homers ever hit by a leadoff hitter, tied with Utley for the most World Series homers in the wild card era (past 25 years.)

Have had the privilege of meeting him, such a nice guy. Back when I was in high school my team was having a winter workout and he was taking BP at the facility. Never heard baseballs hit so loud
Was that in the facility in the Farmington/Plainville area where his old HS coach instructs kids?

Yes, the warehouse on Farmington /Plainville line. I'm not 100% sure of this but I believe my old HS coach was also his coach for Team CT Baseball (TCB)

Springer is just nasty, gets behind in the count on two balls called strikes and still ropes another double.
