Should never be the head coach of a UConn game again as far as I'm concerned, this is an absolute disgrace. We certainly weren't playing well for JC but this is a freaking joke and would never happen with Calhoun coaching. Blaney just stands there with his arms folded and no change in expression no matter what. Somebody check him for a pulse, anyone that can't see that the game passed George by a decade ago either doesn't know basketball or just cares not to notice.

This is NOT Blaneys fault. Do not try to put this on him.

It's not, but every game he coaches, the team seems to play like . They have no respect for the guy, and more importantly, no fear of him.

Well the only way Blaney will never coach another game is....by hiring a new coach. Because Calhoun cannot make it through a full season health in recent years. And Blaney will always be the replacement.

They have 2 other former head coaches on the bench.

When we lose to DePaul next week, maybe they'll finally realize Blaney isn't the guy for the job. This game was his fault.

I agree it is not Blaney's fault but he also isn't the solution. Hobbs should be the head coach next game.

Not Blaneys fault, but he doesnt do anything either. He never has shown any abilty to do anything besides "not completely screw things up". I was so pissed when I found out hed be coaching and not Ollie. What is there to lose? Blaneys upside is we go .500. At least Ollie could potentially pull some stirngs and push some players or something, anything. Now all hope is lost. Season's over.

What would JC d the first time the Huskies didn't rotate back?

Blaney let it go on for countless possessions.

So, yes, a lot of it is on him.

Blaney's at fault for not calling a TO during that debacle, he is at fault for not benching player who were not hustling, he is at fault for not playing Neils until 3 minutes left.

I don't fault Blaney, but this team needs JC's yank-em-if-they-fail-to-play-hard mentality. JC would have been gone nuts on the bench tonight and would have been screaming in their faces. As always, he would not have tolerated one moment of lazy play.

Exactly. Blaney doesn't seem to have the guts to sit all 5 kids at once if he has to. As a result, they take piss poor shots, make lazy entry passes, don't play defense, etc. There is no fear with him coaching.

As a fan of an aimless team, it's really hard to watch a deer in headlights geriatric stand there limp for 40 minutes as a team folds. I'm with the initial poster.

I disagree, even Calhoun has tolerated Drummond and this team being lazy way to much this year and maybe we know why now.

They had tuned Jc out too though. Turn the keys over to Ollie or hobbs, what would they have to lose?

Blaney sucks. There's a reason he coached low level D1 and was happy to become an assistant. This season is lost but they need someone with some passion. I'm sure Ollie and Hobbs would both coach with passion and the kids would give a better effort. This is going to stay ugly as long as he is coaching. This is not to excuse the players. I'll save those kind words for other threads. Calhoun's blind loyalty to his friend, while noble, f%@&$g sucks for this program.

Personally, I love George. That said, he did nothing to stop the bleeding tonight. He should have used all his time outs early to make a point. I donot know how well he and the team work together, but I would have made the obvious point as much as I could have to try to turn the game around.

Should someone else coach right now-----------maybe. We need a fundamental break from what we are doing.............and somehow we have got to learn to believe in ourselves and in what we are supposed to do.

Blaney may not be the best option but the team (oops, I mean players) could at least help him out.

As long as Blaney is here as the Associate head coach then hes the man when Calhoun is out. I dont think its just a matter of choosing somebody else because its probably in his contract that he coaches whenever the head coach is out.

It might be, it might not be. If you are concerned for Ollie's coaching future you don't put him in charge of this mess. Blaney can absorb the losses like Pete Gaudet and fade off into the sunset.

I just want to know what happened at halftime? They were not looking good in the first half, but being only down 5 wasn't horrid. They came out with no adjustments, no game plan and no energy. That is not completely on Blaney but it has to be at least partially on him. Coaching was a huge difference in this game. Pitino made changes, got his team fired up and adjusted at the half. Blaney didn't do much.

BTW why didn't Giffey play at all?

Calhoun doesn't quit.

Ha. Yeah, I'm sure if they were 19-2 (9-1) he would have taken a leave. It had NOTHING to do with scoring 44 and 48 points in back to back games.
