Just an observation, neither here nor there, but George Blaney did not look at all happy on the bench when the camera honed in on him. I have never seen him look that agitated; he is usually kind of deadpan but he was angry. The thought occurred to me that we may be seeing the last of him on the bench.
I have always believed the UConn coaching staff to be a thorough bunch.
Some may recall the mention of Calhoun's index card file that he kept on every team, back in 1999....and how he had already been working on his game plan against Dook (and many others), even before we knew we would face them.
Well, it is my belief that we actually had a game plan for Iowa State.
And it is my belief that we actually had worked on that game plan for the past week, in practice.
And it is my belief that the entire coaching staff, as well as the players, were fully cognizant of the fact that this was a one and done.....
That having all been said, it is also my belief that of all of the things that had been planned, and of all of the things that had been worked on in practice....we were lacking in execution.....
That has to be frustrating, for the players as well as for the coaches.
It is my belief that you saw Blaney reacting to the realization that some players were not applying, in this game, the things that had been practiced all week....
And, unlike every other individual game in the course of the season, the cost of failure in this game was written so large....
That is what you were seeing IMO....
