I hope you're not going to claim that Texas A&M in 2011 was just an invincible foe for all the other teams.

No this would be silly. My point is that Pat had Candace Parker leading those teams to National Championships. When you have Candace Parker, DT or MM leading your team you are off to a good start and you don't necessarily have to be on top of your game as Pat may not have been. You still have to coach & no player in uniform guarantees any result. The guaranteed inference was not something I intended.

Well okay, not much point in discussing further. I'll still believe teams have always needed a top level coach functioning at a high level to win an NC in recent years even with the best players such as a Moore or Griner, but I guess it is remotely possible that a coach who has mainly checked out can still somehow have her team go out and win an NC. Will try to see what the VN thinks about that possibility.
