Strong was arguably the best UConn player on the court the past two seasons, but she always had somebody to lean on. Now, much like Taurasi entering her junior season, Strong must embrace being UConn’s alpha leader on the court.​

Auriemma said he has no intention of coddling Strong this offseason, in hopes that she can come back stronger next year.​

“I think she should take it on her shoulders. I mean, this is what this is all about. You know, what are you gonna do? You know, go home and pretend it doesn’t mean anything?” Auriemma said. “I think the best players carry it with them. They put it on their own shoulders. I remember when we lost in 2001 in St. Louis. (Bird and Taurasi) and those guys, they went home. Not one kid said one word about it, but they carried that … for the next 12 months until we got back there. You can’t shy away from it. As of right now, there are 12 players eligible to come back, and two coming in. That leaves only one opening.

We only have one scholarship available so I might think his returning players and incoming recruits play a much larger part in his equation (after any year.)

No punishment yet but a fine is possible.

I have many gripes with Geno but he is the greatest, he's made this program what it is, and I trust him to develop another team that Connecticut will be proud of.

GENO is the GOAT!! I support him 100%. He is a treasure and we will miss him greatly. Whenever he decides to step down. I’m looking forward to next season already go Huskies.
