Geno Ties Another Wooden Mark

UConn is the only school to have both Mens & Women's Basketball teams at the Final Four multiple times. Both teams have been to the F4 in 2004, 2009, 2011 and now 2014. An Amazing accomplishment that no other conference wants.

Most consecutive Final Fours: Seven -- UCLA men, UConn women.

I thought the UCLA men's consecutive FF appearance is 10, from 1967 - 1976.

1962, 1964, 1965, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1980*, 1995, 2006, 2007, 2008

UConn WB has a way to go to match that.

Wow so Marisa and Shea have been to a final four every year, right?
Damn good assistant coaches! :)

Before last year, the prior record was 5:

LSU
Stanford
UConn twice

Stef and Bria join Kelly, Tiffany, Caroline, Maya, Diana, et al. as 4-time participants.

In Geno's post-game press conference a reporter said UCONN men & women have been to 17 combined FF's since 1999, and Duke is 2nd with 8. When asked about dissatisfaction with the conference situation Geno said coaches only have control of what happens inside the lines, but referred to the reporter's FF stat and said UCONN is "...in a league of our own" and, "we just do what we do." G gave big kudos to Calhoun too ("legendary men's coach")

20 total combined FF appearances. Amazing.

True, but it's pretty cool to think that if UConn made the next three final fours (a certainly conceivable possibility), Geno would tie John Wooden's streak and the UConn women would have as many as the UCLA men.

And ... if that happened he would also break Pat's record of 18 FF in the women's game - he stands at 15 now.

Well, technically tie, but your point stands.
