Geno needs two more wins to pass Tara Vanderveer as the winningist coach in women's basketball. A lot of former players plan to be at the sold out Fairleigh Dickenson game at Gampel on Monday, apparently assuming the Huskies will beat a ranked UNC team on the road. No pressure there, Coach

No pressure indeed! Think how the players must be feeling before Friday's game.
LITERALLY no pressure. Geno has worked 40 years to be in this spot and he will achieve his goal to become the winningest coach in BB history. I also predict that in the next 5 years he will win another 160+ games. That will be the most UNBREAKABLE record of all records.I would guess that his players will play 150% for him to win.I do not see NC beating UCONN. Our defense is jelling and will only get better as the games come.Uconn has 10 legitimate scorers on the team playing now and more coming in the near future. GO BENO!!! BEST OFR LUCK IN ALL YOUR GAMES!!!!

Isn't that the 40 year anniversary game? If so, what a celebration.

What's really amazing is that they will have done it in 40 seasons, all at UConn with the same assistant/associate head coach. They only had one losing season and that was his first at UConn. The two will get #1216 Five years faster than Tara and should build on making their win record impossible to beat.

You keep hearing that Geno has mellowed over time, and I guess he has. Watching his interviews lately have become exercises in human psychology. He speaks so candidly and so thoughtfully about his career and his life that it's really riveting to listen. Everything feels authentic about a life well lived. I'm pretty sure he would say that becoming the winningest coach in the history of the game was never his intention. He's a more take it a day at a time guy than somebody caught up in numbers.
He says he started from "zero" in every sense at UConn and has reached the absolute pinnacle of the basketball world. We are lucky to have been around for part of the ride. There's nothing quite like it.

Geno and CD have to rank at the top of the pyramid of best coaches of all time! The true GOATS!
What they've done over these 40 years with players graduating getting new classes of players every 4 years and keep it fresh and reaching the standards they set back in 1985!
And if not for 3 years raked with unbelievable injuries they would have added 2 or 3 more Championships to the present 11!
When you have approximately 70+ points sitting on the bench unable to play the sports world was robbed of the potential beauty of the talent on the roster!
No offense to SoCar and LSU, but if UConn had a full roster of healthy players they would have dominated Division I WBB!
As was stated above, how lucky are we the fans, to be able to go for the ride with the UConn WBB program!
