Krista Blomquist involved in that story grew up in the congregation where I did earlier at Tabor Lutheran in Branford. Her dad Chet's a great guy who loved volleyball and canoeing. Krista went on to have a career in pro beach volleyball. She is in the Branford Sports Hall of Fame.
 
Bascom overlapped with Najarian.

Najarian helped in terms of play, but she was part of a group of players that did not mesh with Geno (having been recruited by the previous coach) and he was glad to see them go.
