This is something he does every March.

Doug Bonjour caught up with Geno after the breakfast and he said this about Lou:

Auriemma said Monday morning that Katie Lou Samuelson (back spasms) has returned to practice, though not fully.

“Not full, but a little more every day,” Auriemma said after speaking at the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce breakfast. “We’ve still got four or five more days.”

No. 2 UConn (31-2) will learn its tournament fate when the NCAA Selection Show airs Monday night. The 11-time national champions are expected to land the No. 1 seed in the Albany (N.Y.) Regional.

Samuelson has missed the last four games, including all three in the American Athletic Conference Tournament, after injuring her back in a collision March 2 against Houston. The senior is averaging 18.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and is shooting 45.8 percent from the floor.

“By the time Friday comes around,” Auriemma said, “she’s going to be in great shape. She’ll be ready to go.”

Geno offers update on Samuelson, blasts XL Center

On the XL Center which is about to host NCAA men's tournament games.

Geno has some legit complaints about the XL Center. There was a "refresh" done at least 4 or 5 years ago. Basically a paint job and a restaurant area. Don't know how much more can be done unless you "blow it up" as one fan suggested.

My biggest beef is with the state. The state owns the XL Center and charges UConn, the state university, to rent the space for games. Our state leaders also want/ demand that both basketball teams play half their games at the XL. What's wrong with this picture? I see a whole lot of mismanagement by the state.

He had me 'til "deserves"

He's just talkin' his book.

There's many reasons to sink money into a public facility but "deserves" ain't one of 'em.

That argument will get you sent to the back of the line, there's plenty more "deserves crybabies" in this state besides the UConn basketball teams.

Consistent message continues to be "back spasms." She took a shoulder to the mid-back area near ribs. Wonder is "back spasms" was an understatement.

Put 2 games in Bridgeport and 2 in Uncasville. Bye bye Hartford.
Wonder how the students feel. I understand that there are a variety of issues to balance but on campus games always seem to have extra excitement.

Hate to hear him say Samuelson will be "great" by Friday. Sounds like somebody else who uses that word a lot, and it usually doesn't/hasn't turned out that way.

Not sure who you are alluding to :confused: but Geno was commenting on her Physical
State, not her particular game although he probably thinks that.

That's what I thought, also. Still, don't like to hear that word used these days.
