Same thing I saw. BG is good, even great but has sooooooo much more potential. KM's fault or BG's own, not sure.[/quote
There's a problem for a coach with a star player, I think. The college coach (at least at the higher levels) is primarily paid to win. Getting players to improve certainly contributes toward winning. But if the coach thinks that more variety to a player's games detracts from her main strength, or that other players don't have the skills to allow the star to use that variety, the coach is going to choose winning every time. In Griner's case, UConn won by a point early in her career in a game where she uncharacteristically shot poorly from the foul line. She had a year when her team won all their games. This year, she lost a close game to a good team when Baylor's next best player went down early. Then she lost another game by a point after a furious come back put them ahead briefly at the end. Would it have made a difference had she had more of a high post game? Who knows. Wilt never had a game beyond 6 feet from the hoop (and missed more FTs than most players take in their career). She should be a real force at the next level when teams could burn themselves by trying to play keep away from her.
